Internship Assignment
The Department of Risk Management and Compliance (DRMC)comprises 3 units โ Enterprise Risk Unit, Programming Risk Unit and Compliance Unit. DRMC is seeking an Intern to provide operational and administrative support to the Compliance and Enterprise Risk units. S/he will have the opportunity to learn and expand her/his experiences by assisting with all compliance- and institutional risk-designated work, in particular with Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) and other related integrity matters, the analysis of institutional risk data and regular update of the risk dashboard and preparation of other ad hoc reports. In addition, s/he will have the opportunity to apply her/his first-hand knowledge on AML/CFT due diligence and Compliance risk management to the specifics of the Fund while supporting with the development and implementation of the Risk Management Framework, including the Risk Appetite Statement.
Under the overall guidance of the designated primary and alternate supervisors within the Enterprise Risk and Compliance units, the Intern will:
- Support the Compliance and Enterprise risk teams in delivering their mandate and responsibilities under the Fundโs Risk Management Framework, and the Fundโs Integrity Policy Framework โ particularly on AML/CFT and other Prohibited Practices, which could include gaining insight into risk monitoring and assessment of funding proposals, readiness support proposals, adaptive management and disbursement requests.
- Support in the development and implementation of Compliance and Enterprise risk โ related policies, guidelines, procedures and template.
- Assist in maintaining compliance due diligence and assurance documentation, including organising record keeping, reporting of data ad hoc related tasks.
- Contribute to due diligence of GCF funded activities within the remit of Compliance risk
- Assist the Enterprise risk unit in preparing the risk dashboard and ad hoc reports for the Fundโs senior management and Board (including the Risk Management Committee).
- Support in effecting controls and monitoring to ensure alignment with the Fundโs policies, procedures and Standards within the purview of the Compliance
- Other responsibilities may include providing support for (Board, Risk Management Committee) meetings and other events, performing general research tasks to assist both units, preparation and editing of documents, drafting meeting minutes etc. as may be required.
Requirements and qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a masterโs degree or similar post-graduate program in Law, Economics, Business, Public Administration or related fields is required;
- Basic understanding of Compliance โ particularly AML/CFT/anti-corruption/anti-fraud - and enterprise risk management principles and practices i
- Experience and/or proven interest in compliance, integrity, financial crime, specifically anti-money laundering, countering the financing of terrorism, risk management, as well as risk management architecture and risk management frameworks is highly desirable
- Strong interest in due diligence software applications.
- Insight and experience in operations of international organization is an added advantage.
- Keen attention to detail, proven problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate well with others.
- Good understanding and experience in drafting documents with strong emphasis in research and analysis.
- Proficiency in using standard software programs: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access.
- Excellent writing and presentation skills.
- Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of another United Nations language, in particular French, Spanish, and/or Portuguese is an advantage; and
- Established reputation for integrity, sound judgement, fairness and discretion.
