ACAPS is looking for a Community Liaison to develop sustainable and equitable connections with local partners and key informants to fill data gaps and amplify the voice of local communities, ensuring analytical products reflect and highlight the needs of those affected, particularly the most vulnerable and marginalised, and ensuring that the Hubโs analysis is relevant to local actors in Sudan.
ONLY Arabic Speaker AND applicant with excellent knowledge of Sudan politics, economics, and history AND with large professional networks within Sudanese civil society and/or Sudanese humanitarian response structures will be considered.

Sudan Analysis Hub
ACAPS established the Sudan Analysis Hub in August 2023, in the early days of the current war, to provide integrated independent analysis to support the humanitarian response. We have a dedicated team of analysts in the region supported by data analytics experts, researching and preparing analytical reports covering thematic areas on the protection of civilians, displacement, rights of minorities including women, girls, and children, anticipatory analysis including scenarios, and identification and analysis of worsening sectoral humanitarian needs โ including at sub-national level.

As humanitarian needs continue to rise steeply, there is an increasing parallel demand in the sector for high-quality, independent analysis to guide resource prioritisation and programmatic responses. ACAPS is uniquely positioned in the humanitarian architecture to respond to these challenges, operating as a global public good to the humanitarian sector by providing independent, multi-sectoral analysis to enable humanitarian stakeholders to better understand and address the needs of crisis affected populations across the globe.
ACAPS is currently at an exciting stage of its growth trajectory, with a fast-expanding decentralised global team. Due to an increased awareness of ACAPS value add to the humanitarian sector, ACAPS conducts analysis on crises in Afghanistan, Sudan, Ukraine, and Yemen with team members working within many of these countries. This is in addition to global teams providing analysis spanning over 150 countries and 100 active crises worldwide. ACAPS donor portfolio is also expanding, with current active funding from key institutional donors such as BHA, FCDO, SDC, GFFO, GAC, SDC, NMFA and others.

Strategic networking
Develop a strategy for the Hubโs engagement with civil society actors. Develop and maintain a network of local partners in Sudan relevant to the ACAPS teamโs work. These may include local humanitarian organisations and coordination spaces, development actors, civil society, local researchers. Identify analysis-related needs and capacities of civil society actors in Sudan and develop strategies for ACAPS to add value. Ensure the database of civil society actors and local experts is maintained and kept up-to-date, respecting confidentiality and data protection rules.Analysis and data collection
Ensure inclusion of relevant civil society actors/perspectives in the development and analysis phases of Hub products, as well as joint analysis sessions, as needed. Support team members in identifying relevant key informants for analysis products. Support team members in conducting key informant interviews. Support crisis monitoring of Arabic sources as needed.As the crisis is very volatile and may evolve very rapidly, the Community Liaison is expected to adjust and adapt her/his tasks according to the directions set by the ACAPS Sudan Project Manager and/or Team Leader.
Professional competencies
Relevant university degree or higher education, preferably in social sciences or intโl development.ย At least 5 years of professional experience in the humanitarian sector and/or development sector or in civil society. Fluent written and spoken Arabic required. Excellent English-language spoken and writing skills. Excellent knowledge of Sudan politics, economics, and history Large professional networks within Sudanese civil society and/or Sudanese humanitarian response structures Significant understanding of humanitarian needs assessments Strong knowledge in qualitative methods, including key informantsโ techniques Skilled in handling sensitive and confidential data and maintaining discretionย Experience designing and/or carrying out research (primary, secondary, or both) Critical thinking and attention to details. Able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and turn around material rapidly. Outstanding coordination, communication, and inter-personal skills.
