The mission of the Green Climate Fund is to assist developing countries to respond to climate change while bringing prosperity to their people. Established in 2010, the GCF invests in transformational climate projects in the developing world. The Fund makes an ambitious contribution to global climate action and channels significant financial resources into developing countries to help build low-emission and climate-resilient societies. It is country-driven and undertakes actions that reflect the circumstances of each country concerned and its national aspirations. The GCF is a key enabler of the 2015 Paris Agreement on Climate Change. Since its establishment, the GCF has approved 192 projects in 123 countries and has committed USD 10.1 billion in climate finance. In addition, it has built up an extensive program to support developing countries to identify their needs, in particular, those who are most vulnerable to climate change impacts. The GCFโ€™s diverse workforce is advancing its mission from its headquarters in South Korea. Position Objective

The Communications Specialist will be responsible for developing and producing GCFโ€™s key messages and communication products, including publications and executive communications that will help shape GCFโ€™s public profile and contribute to advancing GCFโ€™s external relations strategy. The Communications Specialist will ensure that GCFโ€™s key messages and communications products are effectively conveyed to audiences in consistent, creative, targeted and timely ways.

Duties and responsibilities


โ€ข Develop and produce content for communication products to raise GCFโ€™s profile, enhance its brand and inform of its results and achievements, including collecting multimedia and project stories from the field.
โ€ข Write, review and edit copy for various audiences (external, internal) and communications channels, including digital, social and traditional media outlets.


โ€ข Draft, edit and review speeches and other presentation materials at the executive level for external engagements.
โ€ข Support the development of topline corporate messaging for outreach and engagements.


โ€ข Coordinate the production process for publications that include communication products and outreach materials to ensure quality, relevance and timeliness.
โ€ข Manage and track existing publications to ensure they are regularly updated and the content is relevant, accurate, and correct.
โ€ข Help develop and implement publication procedures and editorial standards and ensure quality control of communications.

Required experience and qualifications

โ€ข Advanced university degree in international relations, economics, journalism, communications, etc.
โ€ข At least 7 years of relevant international experience and a proven track record of good political judgement and strong understanding of multi-lateral processes and climate finance.
โ€ข Demonstrated capacity to establish and maintain relationships with key partners.
โ€ข Experience in working with colleagues from different functions and cultures and solid interpersonal skills
โ€ข Excellent writing and editing skills in English (Native level), as well as oral communication skills in English; knowledge of other languages a plus.
โ€ข Experience in editorial and managing publications preferred.
