UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is offering an internship role within the Private Sector Partnerships (PSP) Services in our Office in The Hague, The Netherlands.

UNHCR has traditionally been funded by voluntary contributions from member states. In addition, due to the enormous growth in the number of people fleeing, fundraising in the private sector has become increasingly important. For the coming years, UNHCR's ambition is to grow from $1 billion to $2 billion in private donations worldwide.
This exciting internship, based in The Hague, is a unique opportunity to gain experience in communication, fundraising and campaigns within UNHCRโs Private Sector Partnershipsโ Fundraising Communication Team and support UNHCRโs private sector fundraising efforts in the Netherlands.
The Private Sector Partnerships (PSP) Services works in different regions: Europe, MENA, Americas, Africa, and Asia, and further decentralizes at local levels. The Communications Intern is part of PSP Netherlands team (which is part of PSP Europe Region) and it is based in the UNHCR Office located in The Hague.
The position:
We are seeking a dynamic and proactive intern, with a strong interest in communication and refugee issues, to complete a six to eight-months internship within UNHCRโs Fundraising Communication team.
The Private Sector Partnerships (PSP) team consists of fourteen people and is responsible for fundraising and communication campaigns in the Netherlands.
The team is currently looking for a driven and pro-active intern with a strong interest in communication and refugee issues who can contribute to creating the content, tools, resources and best practice communication products needed to run an effective fundraising program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
This is a broad internship where you can discover where your strength and interests lie. You participate as a valuable team member and contribute to editing and creating content in support of our fundraising efforts.
Duties and responsibilities may include:
โข Gathering compelling UNHCR content and translate/tailor to engaging Dutch content;
โข Creation of engaging thematic content (copy writing, video editing and Photoshop);
โข Assisting in content management (website, socials, e-mail);
โข Researching the latest statistics, messaging and refugee stories for donor reports;
โข Providing administrative support to the Communication Associate.
Minimum qualifications and skills required:
โข You are a recent graduate (completed your studies within two years from your application) or current student in graduate/undergraduate/HBO school program for a university or higher education facility accredited by UNESCO in the areas of Communication Sciences, Journalism, Marketing Communication, Media or any related field;
โข Have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a field relevant or of interest of the work of the Organization;
โข Be a strong communicator with fluency in Dutch and English (advanced writing and editing skills);
โข Have knowledge of digital media, content management systems or other web-based applications;
โข Good knowledge of Photoshop and Adobe Premiere will be considered an asset;
โข Show a genuine desire to learn and adapt;
โข Have good inter-personal skills and be a keen team-player;
โข Naturally, you support UNHCR and you stand with refugees.
Location:
The successful candidate will be based with the team in UNHCRโs office in The Hague, the Netherlands with the possibility of teleworking from home.
Conditions:
The internship is associated with an internship agreement for an initial 6 months with a possibility of extension up to maximum 8 months. It is a full-time role with working hours starting from 9 AM to 6 PM, Monday to Friday (40 hours per week). Part-time working agreement (minimum 4 days per week) is possible with agreement of the manager of the intern. This is a paid internship as per UNHCR policy.
