FHI 360 has an exciting internship opportunity for a student interested in growing their skills within the international development sector. Under close supervision, an Intern will perform entry level professional duties which will provide the opportunity for professional training in various functional areas throughout the organization. Internship assignments serve to offer practical experience and broad exposure to a global nonprofit development organization.

NIWL implements a wide of education and workforce development projects which support individuals from historically underserved communities who may be impacted by poverty, displaced from education or the workforce, involved with the justice system, or experience systemic and institutional inequities. Through academic enrichment activities, career readiness and exploration opportunities, post-secondary education preparation, and job training and skill building programs, NIWL increases awareness of and access to various career pathways, the knowledge needed to pursue education and career goals, and the steps necessary for participants to achieve their full potential.
Under NIWLโs supervision, the Intern will assist in project communications and resource development for NIWL and its projects. This is a paid internship with a flexible schedule based on project needs.
Anticipated Duration: May 13 โ August 16, 2024
Hours: Part time, up to 20 hours per week, depending on project need
Pay Rate: $18.00/hour
Location: Remote, United States (strong preference given to candidates residing in the Eastern time zone)

- Practical experience with a large, global non-profit organization
- Shadowing, mentoring, and training opportunities with successful communications, technical, and program management professionals working in the College & Career Readiness field
- Training and engagement opportunities related to youth-centered resource development, resource maintenance, workforce development, and college & career readiness
- Experience working with an interdisciplinary team addressing global education and workforce challenges
Anticipated Project(s) and Assignment Details:
The intern may contribute to various department and project activities under the direction of their supervisor in the following ways:
- Develop social media content, applying appropriate branding
- Update learning resources for projects, including new branding templates and revising content
- Update collateral resources for NIWL, including project overviews
- Assist in writing and reviewing department and project content, including News/blog entries
- Assist in developing new content for college and career readiness and/or cultural awareness activities
- Copyedit learning content, presentation slides, collateral materials, etc.
- Support any global or live events as needed
- Participate in meetings with NIWL teams to learn about learning and workforce development strategies and goals, learning content development, and program implementation
- Assist with project-related administrative tasks as needed
- Assist with website management as needed
- Assist with other NIWL communication tasks such as writing, copyediting, or design as needed
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Currently enrolled in a degree program at a college or university in Education, English, Communications, Marketing, Design, or related field of study or within one year of graduation date; bachelorโs degree preferred
- Demonstrated interest in related subject area through studies and/or work experience
- Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas
- Strong writing and copyediting skills
- Articulate, professional, and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner
- Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English
- Detail-oriented
- Must be able to work independently in a virtual environment; strong time-management skills
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word, PDF programs such as Adobe Acrobat or Foxit, and Canva
- Spanish language skills are a plus
- Experience with WordPress a plus
