The FHI-360 managed, USAID Healthy Behaviors Activity (a five year period -July 2022-2027) with its partners the Consortium of Action Aid Ethiopia; Zeleman Communications, Advertising, and Production; and Fraym, works to increase sustained adoption of appropriate health and nutrition behaviors in Ethiopia using evidence-based, theory-informed social and behavior change (SBC) strategies. It does so with the goal of contributing to reductions in unmet need for family planning (FP); reduced malaria-related morbidity and mortality, and its elimination; and improvements in maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH) outcomes. It also supports other priority health needs related to nutrition; and emerging infectious diseases (EID), like COVID-19; and works to transform social and gender norms that impede healthy behaviors and drive poor health outcomes across health areas. We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Regional Central Ethiopia region cluster Coordinator based in Hossana town, Central Ethiopia Region.

Duty station: Hossana town, Central Ethiopia Region

Job Summary:

The cluster coordinator is under the supervision of the Deputy Chief of Party; she or he is responsible for overseeing the overall management of the U-HB project activity at the regional level and zones in the Central Ethiopia Regional State. The cluster coordinator serves as the official fhi360 representative in the region, will liaison with the Centeral Ethiopia Regional Health Office and local implementing partner in the region, provide technical support and backstopping, and closely follow up on the day-to-day project implementation in the Essential and Learning woredas. Closely monitor the LIP day-to-day work and provide technical support and guidance for the successful implementation of the activities in the learning woredas in the region. Supervises technical staff members, ensuring that project activities are on track with work plans, and is responsible for delivering the weekly report for the region. liaison with the Centeral Ethiopia Regional Health Office and local implementing partner in the region, provide technical support and backstopping, and closely follow up on the day-to-day project implementation in the Essential and Learning woredas. Accountabilities:

  • Engage in active communication and collaboration with the South Ethiopia Regional Health Bureau, Local implementing Partners, district health offices, and other relevant partners.
  • Oversee planning: project monitoring, and management to ensure informed decision-making and timely implementation of project activities.
  • Lead the region's SBC and capacity-building activities and ensure the timely implementation of the plan as per the set schedule.
  • Lead the region Micro planning process.
  • Participate in and contribute to the regular SBC technical working group at the region level and in similar forums.
  • Representing the project and attending different working group meetings
  • Conduct and oversee regular monitoring visits to ensure that Local implementing partners operate in compliance with FHI 360 and donor sub-grantee regulations.
  • Support Local Implementing partners to timely process their financial reports and settle their advance payments.
  • Compile progress report and submit to the central team.
  • Periodically Monitor the performance of the Local Implementing partner against objectives
  • Organize quarterly review meetings among stakeholders.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot any challenges in project implementation.
  • Supervise, motivate, and guide Regional FHI 360 USAID Healthy Behaviors activity staff.
  • Undertake other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
