Background
In Malawi, IFPRI is conducting an impact evaluation to assess the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of nutrition-sensitive social behaviour change with and without two levels of maternal and child cash transfers on maternal and child outcomes. The end line will be conducted in May-June 2025. It includes questionnaires on households, mothers, fathers, children, CBCC, and market. Data will be collected on Android tablets using SurveyCTO.
In Egypt, IFPRI is conducting an impact evaluation to assess the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of fortified whole grain nursery meals on children鈥檚 diet, education, nutrition, and health outcomes. The baseline will be conducted in April-May 2025. It includes a household and a nursey questionnaire.
Scope of Work Summary
IFPRI seeks to work with a collaborator that will develop and update the CAPI (computer-assisted personal interviews) programming for the two impact evaluations. They will design and update survey forms based on paper questionnaires and existing forms provided by IFPRI. The CAPI will allow enumerators to input the data electronically, conduct internal validation checks, and automatically input information from related surveys. After each interview, surveyors should be able to check the data collected and quickly identify errors, questions missed, or answers that are outside of standard ranges.
In summary, the work will include the following:
路 Update or design forms for the survey questionnaires for Malawi, including household, CBBC, market, caregiver, father, and child levels, using Survey CTO.
路 Update or design forms for the household and nursery questionnaires in Egypt.
路 Ensure all necessary information links between logically connected questionnaires and sections. The survey programming should allow for the collection of the exact variables and information outlined in the paper survey. The survey programming should include all the skips and relevant conditions as per the paper survey.
路 Ensure translations provided by IFPRI for relevant modules are incorporated in the survey forms.
路 Provide a complete first draft of the forms for IFPRI to pre-test.
路 Revise the forms in response to IFPRI鈥檚 comments in a timely manner.
路 Provide final revision of forms for the survey questionnaires.
路 Communicate in a timely fashion any questions or concerns about the questionnaire and CAPI coding.
Expected deliverables
The collaborator will provide the following outputs under this contract:

路 Final revision of complete designed forms for the two surveys
Required qualifications
路 Proven experience with CAPI programming for household data collection.
路 Track record of submitting deliverables on time.
路 Excellent communication skills in English.
路 For individuals, bachelor's degree or higher in data analysis, statistics, public health, economics, applied economics, international development, or a closely related field.
