Background
NRCโs Better Learning Programme (BLP) is a psychosocial support (PSS) programme implemented within education programming. It is NRC's flagship classroom-based PSS intervention for children in crisis-affected communities. The programme is a holistic approach to supporting childrenโs recovery and improving their conditions for learning.ย
The BLP consists of three components of programme intervention. The first โ the BLP-1 โ is a general, classroom-based PSS approach targeting all children and young people. The second โ the BLP-2 โ is a small group intervention to support resilience amongst a more specific target group of academic under-achievers. The third โ the BLP-3 โ is a specialized PSS approach to address nightmares, which many children experience as a chronic symptom of traumatic stress.

Roll-out and implement strategic and operational initiatives and projects related to BLP and PSS across relevant Country Offices of the BLP global resources (such as the BLP guidance Kit, the BLP youth wellbeing programmatic documents, the capacity building package and Miskit book and resources);ย Represent and actively participate the BLP Technical Steering Committee meetings to move forward project milestones through structured approach;ย Contribute to the development of project guidance both technical and implementation; Supervise and monitor the programme implementation as assigned by the line manager and Country Office colleagues (activities, and project documentation) in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements;ย Provide technical direction and ensure high technical quality of projects as the focal point for BLP Middle East to ensure quality implementation of BLP in relevant Country Offices through existing communication platforms field-visits, revision/development of country-specific procedures/tools, using NRC Project Cycle Management: grant opening meetings, grant review meetings, grant closing meetings;ย Promote and advocate for the integration of Better Learning Program (BLP)and Psycho Social Support (PSS) into NRC education strategy and response as well as in country and regional response plans; Oversee and manage BLP projects (global/regional grant) implementation (activities, budget and project documentation) in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements;ย Enhance the engagement and outreach index to target beneficiaries most in need of protection, explore and asses new and better ways to assist and liaise with country offices accordingly;ย Communicate effectively and create effective interface and networking with the Global BLP Unit (GBU) and countries in Middle East Region in coordination with the regional Education Adviser to understand the needs, implement strategies and achieve objectives and to provide capacity building and support ; Submit and provide Reports, providing regular progress reports to Regional Education Adviser; Compile and disseminate best practice, lessons learnt, recommendations, and case studies from project implementation, creating and tracking against a project improvement plan; Assess and map existing strengths, weaknesses, capacity and gaps in implementing Better Learning Program (BLP) across Country Offices; then ensure capacity building of Country Office staff and transfer key skills across Middle East Regional Offices as well as capacity building and supporting the in-country BLP focal points (including technical guidance) to implement and monitor BLP activities; 2/3ย Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders- in case of BLP institutionalization.Professional competencies, Qualifications and Skills required
BA degree in social work, Humanitarian studies or any relevant field, Master degree and certification in Project Management is a plus; Minimum 5 years of experience from a senior level project implementation position in a humanitarian/recovery context;ย Previous work in Psychosocial support and social and emotional learning programs and experience operating NRC Better Learning Programme 1/2/3 is considered an asset; Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts; Leadership, capacity building and remote management working skills,ย Fluency in Arabic and English, both written and verbal;ย Computer Literate: good command in Computer Skills use office 365, outlook, microsoft office programs.Context related skills, knowledge and experience
