The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Group Corporate Services Directorate (GCS), Group Digital Office (GDO), Platforms and Services Department (P&S), Infrastructure Services Division (IS), Network and Data Centre Unit (NDC) at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a (Associate) Network Systems Engineer *.

This is a full time temporary position at grade 4/5.

The term of this contract will be 4 years; as this is a temporary assignment, no extension or conversion of the contract is foreseen.

Purpose

The EIB Group is currently going through a significant capital investment project for the construction of our new building. In this role you will coordinate the timely delivery of the technology roadmap in conformity with the network service, internet accesses and data lines in order to ensure a reliable network service for the EIB Group's new building.

Operating Network

You will report to the Head of Network and Data Centre Unit and have regular contact with colleagues and external consultants, as well as close communication with suppliers of hardware, software and related services for infrastructure. You may also occasionally have to carry out on-call services and work outside business hours.

Accountabilities

Contribute to the New Building's network systems from the initial design to deployment phase, in line with established guidelines and best practices to ensure the highest performance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, actively participating in meetings and discussions related to the New Building network project. Assess the scalability needs for network systems in the New Building in order to provide support to capacity monitoring activities and ensure adherence to compliance requirements. Proactively contribute to the resolution of technical issues related to the New Building network projects and conduct system upgrades and patch management activities, liaising with vendors and support teams. Follow security protocols and implement security measures to safeguard network systems. Ensure and maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for network configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures including the creation and drafting of new documentation as needed. Contribute to the development and maintenance of disaster recovery plans for network systems in the New Building and its overall integration in the EIB Group disaster recovery plans. Monitor and manage budgets for the New Building network projects.

Qualifications

University degree (minimum an equivalent to a Bachelor) preferably in computer science or related disciplines. ITIL Certification would be an advantage. Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in delivering IT Infrastructure and Network projects (LAN, WLAN, MAN). Experience in the rollout of new technologies and enterprise-wide infrastructures would be considered an advantage. Proven experience and strong knowledge in Network related technologies (network wired and wireless) based on Cisco. Experience of at least one IT Project Management methodology such as PM2, PMI, PRINCE2, SCRUM. Understanding of security principles and the ability to follow security protocols in the context of network systems is preferred Excellent knowledge of English and/or French with a good command of the other (**)

Proficiency is understood to mean the attainment of level 5 of the Inter Institutional language courses, corresponding to B1.2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL).
