Purpose of Job
The Analyst, SBI sits within Climate Strategy and Delivery and supports the implementation of the strategy of the EBRD in the area of sustainable business and infrastructure. The Analysts will take active part in the execution of all related deliverables and support the development of green elements of investments that deliver the EBRDโs Green Economy Transition agenda and comply with the goals of Paris Agreement. She/he takes active part in the execution of independent research and contributes to the ongoing initiatives of the team in relation to project finance, technical assistance, policy dialogue and capacity building activities. The analyst will work primarily within the Sustainable Infrastructure team on major infrastructure projects, including low-carbon transport, water, and heating/cooling systems. The analyst will also support on integrating emerging cross-cutting initiatives such as nature finance.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
The analyst may operate across multiple areas, depending on business needs. A candidate with some exposure to infrastructure projects would be preferred.
โข Provide technical and analytical inputs to support the project cycle in the Bank and support project teams in Sustainable Infrastructure Group with the review and assessment of EBRD projects:
- to assess projects under EBRDโs Green Economy Transition approach;
- to determine alignment with the goals of the Paris Agreement;
- to assess climate related financial risk associated with clients activities.
โข Support the development and application of methodologies and approaches to assess climate adaptation investments, climate risk assessment and to deliver associated capacity building;
โข Liaise with public and private sector clients on project design and policy initiatives;
โข Keep abreast of developments in the specific sustainable infrastructure related areas, including with other IFIs, and provide comprehensive in-depth analysis, research and advice on these areas to the CSD and other Banking teams.
โข Develop internal briefings and materials for senior management for presenting the teams work internally and externally.Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Main qualifications, experience and skills
โข Relevant degree in engineering (civil, mechanical, infrastructure, or equivalent), environmental science, or related discipline;
โข Between 2-5 years of experience preferably with exposure on sustainable infrastructure in an emerging/developing market context;
โข Good understanding of the approaches, methodologies, and the implications of climate change in terms of economic and social impacts;
โข Ability to consolidate complex analytical information into briefing materials for non-technical audience and decision makers;
โข Understanding of policy analysis and policy formulation in the areas of climate change, climate resilience, energy and infrastructure development;
โข Understanding of basic business and finance principles;
โข Experience in emerging markets and developing countries would be advantageous.
Competences
โข Excellent written/oral communication skills in English. Knowledge of another language of the Bankโs countries of operations (e.g. Arabic, French, Serbian, or Turkish) would be an advantage;
โข Ability to operate consistently within business guidelines and ethics and work sensitively in multicultural environments, building effective working relations with clients and colleagues, managing multiple tasks to meet varying deadlines;
โข Influencing, negotiation and relationship building skills, with both internal and external partners;
โข Result-oriented, self-motivated, ability to work to and meet tight deadlines and to plan and organise work unsupervised in a logical and efficient manner;
โข Familiarity with role and requirements of EBRD and/or other international financing institutions and/or development agencies;
โข Relationship management skills: experience in engaging with diverse stakeholders for project preparation or implementation tasks, consulting and advisory and/or policy development;
โข Experience and familiarity in working within multicultural projects and teams.
