The FHI-360 managed, USAID Healthy Behaviors Activity, with its partners the Consortium of Action Aid Ethiopia; Zeleman Communications, Advertising, and Production; and Fraym, works to increase sustained adoption of appropriate health and nutrition behaviors in Ethiopia using evidence-based, theory-informed social and behavior change (SBC) strategies. It does so with the goal of contributing to reductions in unmet need for family planning (FP); reduced malaria-related morbidity and mortality, and its elimination; and improvements in maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH) outcomes. It also supports other priority health needs related to nutrition; and emerging infectious diseases (EID), like COVID-19; GHSA and works to transform social and gender norms that impede healthy behaviors and drive poor health outcomes across health areas. We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Cluster coordinator.

Job Summary

The Cluster Coordinator is responsible for implementing the USAID Healthy Behaviors Activity at Dessie, Sekota and Debre Birhan Zone and serves as the official fhi360 representative in the three zones. S/he is under the supervision of the Regional Technical Hub Lead and will liaison with the Dessie, Sekota and Debre Birhan Health Offices, project implementation woredas, and implementing partners (LIPs) in the three zones to provide technical support and backstopping. The cluster coordinatorโ€™s duties include organizing trainings, community mobilizations, and meetings at the zone levels and overseas woredas level project implementation, engaging in active communication and collaboration with the l Dessie, Sekota and Debre Birhan zone health offices, district health offices, and other pertinent partners, fostering networks and partnerships in the three zones , and making routine visits to woredas and kebeles to provide technical support and backstopping.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Represent the Regional Tech Hub lead and the project and attend meetings at the zone levels and in similar forums.
  • Coordinate The USAID Healthy Behaviors Activity's training, community mobilizations, and meetings at the three zones and in the project implementation woredas with the direction and support of the regional Tech Hub lead.
  • Engage in active communication and collaboration with Dessie, Sekota and Debre Birhan zone health offices, district health offices, and other relevant partners, including USAID-supported IPs.
  • Strengthen networks and partnerships in the three zones and attend relevant government and partner meetings.
  • Develop collaboration among different stakeholders.
  • Provide support to Woreda health offices through routine field visits.
  • Engage in supportive supervision and follow-up visits to project woredas to identify gaps and propose solutions.
  • Provide technical assistance to local implementing partners.
  • Support LIPs to timely process their financial reports and settle their advance payments.
  • Upload field data on a timely basis with the support of regional MEL officers.
  • Undertake other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
