The Mitigation Action Facility â an agile, grant-based multi-donor fund â drives sectoral decarbonisation by providing technical support and climate finance for ambitious mitigation projects. It funds ambitious climate change mitigation projects to implement Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and long-term strategies (LTS) that are central to meeting the Paris Agreement goals. The Facility primarily focuses on three priority sectors â energy, transport and industry. To shift the targeted sector towards a carbon-neutral development pathway, the Mitigation Action Facility selects innovative projects through a competitive process that can catalyse sector-wide transformational change.
The Technical Support Unit (TSU), under the leadership of GIZ, serves as the secretariat and portfolio manager and supports the Board in management of the Facility. This includes managing the overall project cycle of the Mitigation Action Facility, organising Calls for Projects, assessment of Project Concepts, Outlines and Proposals, carrying out monitoring, evaluation and learning activities as well as reporting to Donors.
Your tasks
In-depth advice on financial instruments and mechanisms, including grant, loans, equity and guarantee, for the implementation of mitigation measures in developing countries and emerging economies, and public and private climate finance leverage In-depth advice on capacity building measures for the rollout and uptake of financial instruments and mechanisms Supervision of selected projects Evaluation of Concepts, Outlines and Project Proposals received in the course of annual Calls for Proposals of the Mitigation Action Facility

Relevant university degree in economics, finance or similar Over 3 years of experience in developing, implementing, or appraising financial instruments and mechanisms, preferably in the context of ODA-funded development projects Experience in the field of development cooperation with a focus on decarbonisation in the energy, transport or industry sector is desired Experience with business and financial modelling Strong written and oral communication skills, quick comprehension, self-organization, resilience, flexibility and team spirit Fluency in written and spoken English is a must, French or Spanish are an assetNotes
