This role will be a Technical Advisor role in the Gender and Emergency team within CUSA. It will be a critical position to design, detail, and further refine CAREโ€™s work around protection within the wider mission and vision of the organization, under its humanitarian response mandate. The role will more specifically focus on the intersection of gender, protection, and risk reduction for women and girls. It will include a mix of strategic thinking and planning; deployment and response work; technical and tool development; and program and proposal development. The position will report to the Director of Gender in Emergencies and work closely with the Deputy Director of Gender Based Violence in Emergencies, along with other humanitarian actors, CARE International stakeholders. This will be a new position in the team, so the candidate will be responsible for driving, defining, and initiating work within the context of already ongoing work and priorities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Technical Assistance and Deployment

Support the integration of womenโ€™s protection activities into ongoing and planned GBViE and cross-sectoral work or activities. Provide TA to COโ€™s in various regions, including tool development, technical support, training/capacity building, program design, MEAL, and strategic assistance. Review current GiE documents, guidance, and approaches within CARE to improve womenโ€™s protection principles, and find ways to integrate greater safety and security considerations for women and girls.

Develop new model or approach to GBViE or womenโ€™s protection services, based on pre-existing work and in line with CAREโ€™s strengths for pitching and sharing with new donors. Create new tools, resources, and guidance for CARE US COโ€™s in line with requests, gaps, and programming needs in various regions. Develop training packages, delivery trainings, and support organizational wide capacity building as determined necessary, appropriate, and relevant to where CARE is in the conversation.

Program Development and Proposal Review

Build out pilot projects for CUSA humanitarian team in conjunction with COโ€™s to test CAREโ€™s womenโ€™s protection approach, gather learning, and inform our next steps/ways of working. Assist CUSA Humanitarian team and business development teams to determine the best way to approach protection mainstreaming reviews, ensure quality in program design, and submissions. Support proposal review, program development, and program design to ensure COโ€™s have high-level womenโ€™s protection interventions.

Guide CARE and CAREUSA specifically on next steps for womenโ€™s protection. Support advocacy, learning, communications, research, and documentation.
