    ย 

    The post is located in the News and Media Division in the Office of the Director General.ย  The News and Media Division is responsible for overseeing the Organization's social-media content production and distribution activities, as well as press and media-related outreach. The Division produces and shares across a proliferating array of platforms engaging content to promote awareness and understanding of intellectual property as a driver of economic, cultural and social development and how WIPO supports this.

    1. Purpose Statement

      ย 

      The incumbent is responsible for video productions and activities that have been defined as key communication priorities. The incumbent also supervises the staff and daily activities of the WIPO full-service video studio and plays a critical role in implementing the video strategy for the Organization.

      1. Reporting Lines

        ย 

        The incumbent works under the direct supervision of the team leader for Content Creation and overall supervision of the Director of the News and Media Division.

        2.ย ย ย ย ย  Duties and Responsibilities

        ย 

        The incumbent will perform the following principal duties:

        ย 

        a.ย ย  Create and produceย  a wide variety of video-related products such as, but not limited to, news coverage of WIPO events, recording of WIPO conferences and seminars, interviews, video messages, clips and video animations, documentary films, talk shows;

        ย 

        b.ย ย  Manage the production of video projects, provide editorial and artistic supervision and production of motion graphic animations, from conception to completion, to ensure that objectives are met within deadlines, and provide advice on the potential reaction of the public and stakeholders to material intended for dissemination;

        c.ย ย  Act as an executive producer for in-studio productions, and as a director, camera-person and/or video editor for in-house productions as well as filming missions, revise working scripts, and review and recommend the approval of video content for final production and dissemination;

        d.ย ย  Research and identify opportunities for publicizing aspects of the Organization's work, through video productions, and provide advice to, and collaborate with, other sectors in developing video materials for the promotion of WIPO activities and services, ensuring that the end products meet WIPO standards as well as web and television market requirements;

        ย 

        e.ย ย  Identify and recommend the selection of external service providers, participate in negotiating terms and prepare contracts, according to WIPO policies and procedures, with third parties for production, post-production and distribution purposes.ย  Supervise and evaluate their work, and take action to address issues, delays or other problems;

        ย 

        f.ย ย ย  Supervise, and revise as necessary, the work of video production support staff. Assign and delegate work, ensure deadlines are met, and evaluate performance;

        ย 

        g.ย ย  Monitor the needs of the video production team, including any procurement of equipment and the maintenance of an in-house video studio, and recommend the allocation/reallocation of available funds;

        ย 

        h.ย ย  Perform other related duties as required.

        3.ย ย ย ย ย  Requirements

        ย 

        Education (Essential)

        First-level university degree in communications, journalism, media relations or a related subject.

        ย 

        Education (Desirable)

        Audio-visual/video production graduate courses or certification.

        ย 

        Experience (Essential)

        At least six years of demonstrated experience as television/film director/producer for major broadcast or digital publications, including in-studio experience.

        ย 

        Demonstrated knowledge and practice of video development, production and project management; proven creative and technical experience and skills in handling professional video applications and software packages; thorough knowledge of international and national broadcasting structures and social media channels.

        ย 

        Demonstrated experience of video shooting in the field, ability to prepare video shooting mission in the field (including development of shot list, authorization to shoot in target country and all logistical arrangements) and production of a series of different video formats that are platform-specific.
