About this position

We are currently looking for a motivated, applied, and innovative individual to provide technical and business development to the Integration and Trade Sector (INT) of the Vice-Presidency for Sectors and Knowledge (VPS), regarding the following initiatives and integration block:

The Americas Business Dialogue (ABD) is an initiative led by the private sector and facilitated by the IDB that fosters a high-level dialogue between governments and the private sector of the region on policies that promote investment, job creation and economic development.

ConnectAmericas (CA) is INT鈥檚 digital platform, and free-access business social network that supports small and medium-sized enterprises in their internationalization processes. CA has more than 700,000 registered entrepreneurs from more than 180 countries, and a network of 400 local partners such as chambers of commerce and trade promotion agencies, among others.

The Northern Triangle countries (El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras) are experiencing significant economic transformations. In this context, INT supports their efforts to attract foreign investment and identify potential opportunities for investment in key sectors to accelerate their economic development.

INT is responsible for supporting LAC integration into the global economy and regional integration and cooperation through lending operations, technical assistance and applied economic and sector work. Our projects and applied research contribute to the reduction of the three main costs of trade: logistics, information and regulatory. Our areas of intervention are trade facilitation, export promotion and investment attraction, and negotiation and implementation of trade agreements. We also provide technical assistance to regional initiatives and integration blocks.

What you鈥檒l do:

The consultant will perform, among others, the following main activities:

Connectamericas Initiative (CA):

Support the design, execution, and implementation of actions to attract new partners, consolidate alliances and collaboration programs with stakeholders, and generate strategies to access funds to strengthen CA's mission.

Identify and engage new businesses and knowledge partners in close coordination with the Office of Outreach and Partnerships (ORP) and in alignment with INT and CA鈥檚 priorities.

Support the implementation of working plans and strategies with CA鈥檚 partners such as Google, DHL, MasterCard, SeaLand, and Facebook.

Identify new opportunities that strengthen CA's portfolio of solutions for SMEs which could be of interest to potential partners.

Design and develop CA fundraising strategy and coordinate the production of communication materials to support the implementation of the strategy.

Identify and participate in high exposure events and meetings where CA and its products and services can be presented and disseminated.

Americas Business Dialogue Initiative (ABD):

Support ABD team in all aspects related to the programming, logistics and design of content-related products for the next Business Summit of the Americas to be held in the Dominican Republic in 2025.

Identify and develop new business and collaboration opportunities with governments, integration mechanisms, entrepreneurial associations, and international organizations.

Promote ABD's participation in international forums, including high-level dialogues, and business summits.

Support ABD鈥檚 communications strategy and dissemination efforts to effectively reach its internal and external audiences.

Northern Triangle:

Provide comprehensive support in identifying potential investment opportunities in the Northern Triangle countries. The support should focus on assessing various sectors and presenting actionable recommendations to attract and facilitate investment.

Facilitate collaboration and communication between INT and key stakeholders of the Northern Triangle鈥檚 countries, including government officials, business leaders and entrepreneurial organizations.

Promote collaboration with other divisions and departments of the Bank Group, prioritizing activities that are conducive to INT鈥檚 strategic goals and work program.

Support INT鈥檚 teams in any other tasks required to properly execute its work Program.

What you'll need:

Education: Master鈥檚 in economics, law, international relations, business administration or related fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role

Experience: At least 10 years of experience in business development, trade facilitation and/or investment attraction, particularly in LAC. Relevant experience in designing and implementing strategies to attract new partners, consolidating collaboration programs, and generating business opportunities to access funds will be highly valued.

Languages: Proficiency in English and one of the other Bank official languages (Spanish, French or Portuguese) is required.

Requirements:

Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries.

Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
