Mission and objectivesThe Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights is the leading United Nations entity in the field of human rights, with a unique mandate to promote and protect all human rights for all people. OHCHR works with national and international partners to address human rights concerns, advocate for the rights of those in need, and ensure accountability. For the upcoming senatorial elections in Togo, OHCHR aims to support fair, transparent, and inclusive electoral processes by monitoring public discourse and election-related developments through open-source data collection and reporting.
ContextAs Togo prepares for its senatorial elections, OHCHR-WARO seeks to enhance its understanding of the socio-political landscape through open-source monitoring. Volunteers will contribute to identifying and verifying human rights concerns, such as electoral inclusivity, freedom of expression, and the prevention of electoral violence. By summarising and analysing data from diverse sources, volunteers will support the creation of reports and visualisations that inform OHCHR’s advocacy efforts. This project provides a unique opportunity to support human rights monitoring remotely, offering volunteers exposure to open-source research and qualitative and quantitative analysis in a dynamic context.
