This position will be full-time coverage for a long-term absence and the anticipated duration of the role is from mid-August through mid-January. If funding permits, there is a possibility of an extension beyond January.
Provides technical and scientific leadership to those designing, and implementing technical strategies, programs or tools in Social and Behavior Change (SBC). Provides technical advice based upon expertise and knowledge of evidence-based SBC methods and strategies, current practice, and established operational and research standards to ensure quality and rigorous design. Builds SBC capacity in country-level, regional or global program staff. Assesses current SBC technical, scientific, managerial and operational efficiencies at the program, regional, or global levels as appropriate. Provides guidance to ensure that SBC program implementation adheres to appropriate technical standards and guidelines and that programs are technically sound. Evaluates SBC proposal design and protocol development to ensure designs are sound and based upon evidence- based practice. Provides global scientific leadership by staying current of evolving SBC technical standards, guidelines, and program developments in area of expertise. Responsible for sharing best practices in SBC and contributes to the knowledge base through participation in scientific forums and technical networks. Shares new knowledge, evidence and best practices through collaboration with relevant departments and personnel.
Accountabilities:
Provide technical guidance to a portfolio of assigned SBC projects, including technical leadership to design, develop, and plan implementation of project tools and activities.
Provide technical leadership in development and execution of capacity strengthening strategies to benefit SBC project staff.
Ensure SBC project implementation adheres to the appropriate global strategy and remains technically sound.
Ensure technical deliverables and project reports are consistent with best practices in the industry and meet donor expectations.
Review and finalize SBC project reports and deliverables submitted to donor organizations.
Coordinate and advance the divisionโs knowledge management plan.
Participate in new business development activities by serving as an SBC technical contributor.
Complete assigned job responsibilities and follow standards and practices of the department and division.
Plan and schedule own workflow and timetables, within area and function guidelines.
Maintain a constructive dialogue and technical exchange with field counterparts and technical staff of implementing partners.
Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with donor/client organizations, relevant government agencies, bilateral and other NGOs.
Develop tools for the design and implementation of specific technical components.
Serves as the primary author for key technical deliverables (e.g., reports, presentations, manuscripts).
Qualifications:
Masterโs Degree or its International Equivalent in a related field.
Project Management (PM) Certification preferred.
8+ years of relevant experience in senior technical direction to SBC projects and/or programs.
Experience in emerging SBC methods and approaches such as human centered design, behavioral economics, and/or digital media preferred.
Subject matter experience and/or expertise in FP/RH, nutrition, malaria, or other related health area a plus.
Ability to provide technical assistance to projects, ensure high quality SBC outputs and impact, set realistic priorities, and plan for the successful implementation of SBC activities.
New business development experience in SBC.
Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
Relevant computer software skills (including, at a minimum, the standard applications in MS Office).
Able to read, write and speak fluent English.
Effectively applies knowledge of SBC to solve range of problems.

The expected hiring salary range for this role is listed below. FHI 360 pay ranges represent national averages that vary by geographic location. When determining an offer amount, FHI 360 factors in multiple considerations, including but not limited to: relevant years of experience and education possessed by the applicant, internal equity, business sector, and budget.
Base salary is only one component of our offer. FHI 360 contributes 12% of monthly base pay to a money purchase pension plan account. Additionally, all US based staff working full-time, which is calculated at 40 hours/week, receive 18 days of paid vacation per year, 12 sick days per year, and 11 holidays per year. Paid time off is reduced pro rata for employees working less than a full-time schedule.
Hiring Salary Range: $85,000 - $157,000
