Job Summary:
FHI 360 seeks a Nutrition Technical Advisor II to support growth of the organizationโs Global Nutrition Teamโs portfolio, expand the organizationโs global thought leadership in nutrition and support thought leadership aligned with FHI 360โs global challenges, and provide technical support and oversight to a growing portfolio of bilateral nutrition and integrated health projects. The advisor will stay abreast of the latest technical developments and donor trends and represent FHI 360โs interests in donor forums, global norms setting bodies, and professional meetings. S/he will sit within FHI 360โs Global Nutrition Team, and collaborate closely with the organizationโs regional offices, enterprise services, and relevant subsidiaries.
Accountabilities
Program Development: Collaborate with regional offices and other departments to grow FHI 360โs nutrition portfolio and global footprint.
Stay abreast of donor trends and identify opportunities for expanding FHI 360โs nutrition portfolio at both country and global level
Maintain and grow relationships with donor representatives, potential partners, and other key sector stakeholders
Lead the design and development of nutrition and food security project proposals
Contribute to development projects led by other divisions and departments where they include significant nutrition components
Program Quality and Technical Assistance: Support start-up of new nutrition projects and provide ongoing technical support and oversight to established bilateral projects.
Identify project technical needs and ensure timely provision of short-term technical assistance either directly or through consultants, including provision of direct in-country support
Support development of technical briefs and other knowledge products, ensuring their technical quality and relevance
Support development of donor reports and annual work plans and collaborate closely with regional offices to ensure the quality and integrity of donor submissions
Facilitate networking and collaboration across projects and between HQ and Country-based staff
Thought Leadership: Support the positioning of FHI 360 as a thought leader in the field of nutrition and food systems.
Identify opportunities within existing projects to advance the evidence base and work with project staff and others to document and disseminate findings
Identify, develop, and secure funding to pursue strategic lines of inquiry with the aim of contributing to the peer-reviewed evidence base
Ensure the quality and integrity of any related research and publications
Applied knowledge and skills
Knowledge of best practices and evolving global evidence in the field of nutrition and food systems
Knowledge of the global nutrition donor environment, including detailed understanding USAIDโs interests and investments in nutrition
Excellent communication skills, including demonstrated expertise in technical and business development writing and presentation skills
Ability to manage projects, set realistic priorities, and plan for the successful implementation of activities
Strong diagnostic, analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to influence others of the importance of an idea or plan of action and to gain their support or commitment
Competency in a second language preferred
Education
Masterโs degree or its international equivalent in the field of nutrition, public health, or a related field
Experience
12+ years of relevant experience in the field of nutrition or public health
Demonstrated experience engaging with governments, normative bodies, or committees at global, regional or national level around nutrition or related fields
Demonstrated success in leading nutrition related business development efforts. Experience in development of USAID projects strongly preferred
Established networks and contacts within the global nutrition and public health field
Direct implementation experience in low to middle income countries (LMIC)
Experience providing technical support to LMIC required

The expected hiring salary range for this role is listed below. FHI 360 pay ranges represent national averages that vary by geographic location. When determining an offer amount, FHI 360 factors in multiple considerations, including but not limited to: relevant years of experience and education possessed by the applicant, internal equity, business sector, and budget.
Base salary is only one component of our offer. FHI 360 contributes 12% of monthly base pay to a money purchase pension plan account. Additionally, all US based staff working full-time, which is calculated at 40 hours/week, receive 18 days of paid vacation per year, 12 sick days per year, and 11 holidays per year. Paid time off is reduced pro rata for employees working less than a full-time schedule.
Hiring Salary Range: $70,000 - $160,000
