The Internship Programme is a learning opportunity aimed at attracting young and talented candidates. The programme will provide the successful candidates with the opportunity to put into practice and implement their learned and academic knowledge in a field related to the work of WFP. This will promote better understanding of WFP Kenya mandate and programmes. Similarly, the programme will provide WFP with qualified individuals specializing in relevant fields in line with WFPโs Strategic Objectives and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
WFPโs activities include food assistance for relief, school feeding, safety nets, nutrition, and food assistance for assets creation through provision of in-kind and cash-based transfers. You will be part of an efficient and dynamic team that effectively support in the implementation of WFPโs country strategic plan for Kenya.
JOB PURPOSE
The Supply Chain unit is looking for an intern to support the unit in the various activities as will be assigned by the Supervisor or designated authority.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
Under direct supervision of the Logistics Officer or delegated authority, provide support to Logistics operation and activities, following the standards processes and facilitating, directly or indirectly, the effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries. Support invoice processing in coordination with Country Office, liaise whenever necessary with service provider/partner/retailer to expedite the process Support the planning and implementation of innovative supply chain operations, initiatives and services to ensure timely, cost-effective cash Based Transfer (CBT) operation. Provide technical advice and identify opportunities for improvement and innovation initiatives analyzing best practices from the humanitarian and private sector. Support the management of logistics retailers' contracts, including performance monitoring and measurements. Assist in Contracting operations, analysis, contract awards, performance evaluation of vendors. Prepare daily, weekly and monthly sitreps, supply chain dashboards and reports on supply chain country office operations Assist in monitoring the inventory management process to track trends and account for the inventory status from receipt to dispatch to final delivery points. Other logistics related tasks as required
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelorโs degree in Supply Chain, Business Management or other relevant field. Graduated no longer than 1 year ago from a Bachelorโs degree or equivalent studies.
Language: Fluency in both oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP depending on the duty station of assignment. WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, necessary visas and related costs. WFP will recognize candidatesโ educational credentials from recognised institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education. The internship duration is 8 months, full-time.
