Major Function

The Stewardship Officer is a newly created role that supports WWFโ€™s Individual Giving Team by coordinating stewardship efforts for current major donors as a group. Key tasks include documenting stewardship plans and contacts in CRM and acting as the primary point of contact on the Individual Giving Team for all stewardship efforts undertaken by the Donor Communications & Stewardship Team.

Coordinates across Donor Communications & Stewardship, Regional Philanthropy Gift Officers, and Gift Planning to create and execute group stewardship opportunities for donors at the $25,000+ level, creates group stewardship plans, and documents stewardship activity and outreach in CRM. With input and guidance from the Individual Giving and Donor Communications and Stewardship teams, designs, documents, and implements a systematic, integrated, and comprehensive stewardship and donor relations program for donors at various giving levels within Regional Philanthropy and Gift Planning portfolios. Works closely with the Director of Donor Stewardship to develop donor recognition and stewardship strategies and initiatives and serves as team liaison to the Donor Communications & Stewardship Team on overall stewardship and communication matters. Builds and maintains affinity/interest groups for targeted stewardship, particularly for donors in permanent stewardship. Assists Regional Philanthropy Gift Officers with thank you/welcome calls and other forms of recognition and/or benefits for donors. Working closely with the Prospect Management Team, ensures timely, thorough, and transparent tracking and reporting of stewardship activities/data on behalf of both internal and external constituents. Maintains ongoing collaboration with WWF program and event staff, and works closely with the WWF Events Team and the Senior Directors of Regional Philanthropy on donor events, including establishing and organizing an annual event calendar for the Individual Giving Team. Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with a minimum 2 years of professional work experience in development operations, customer service, or project management.
  • Event planning or management experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of CRM database is strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and activities and deliver high quality work in accordance with set deadlines.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to changing situations and priorities.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills including empathy for donor situations, and a professional, pleasant, and patient approach to donor complaints.
    • High standard of ethics including discreet handling of donor records and adherence to the model standards of practice for gift planners.
    • Strong writing, proofreading, and editing skills.
    • Demonstrated initiative and ability to operate with minimal supervision.
