The Postal Technology Centre Directorate (DCTP) of the UPU acts as a link between technology and the needs of the Postal industry by being the first choice in providing IT solutions, applications and services that enable the delivery of domestic and international postal services. ResponsibilitiesPerform software programming, technical improvements and support for the Postal Technology Centre Directorate (DCTP). 1. Computer systems software development: a. Designing โ€“ Contribute to the feasibility studies and analysis of user requirements in the preparation of architectural and technical specifications; โ€“ Participate in the design of the new technical specifications and architecture of the overall software solution in conjunction with the responsible technical project manager. b. Planning โ€“ Contribute to estimating the workload of the tasks required to develop the software; โ€“ Prioritize and schedule tasks assigned. c. Development โ€“ Independently perform the development and the unit test of each software module in accordance with the functional and technical specifications of the project plan; โ€“ Collaborate with other team members: share knowledge and work together in reusing common technologies and software components. d. Documentation โ€“ Prepare adequate source code documentation, including any necessary documentation to facilitate the integration of the module into the final software for release; โ€“ Assist in the production of the documentation for end-users and for the maintenance and support associated with the software. e. Testing โ€“ Participate in the establishment of a detailed test plan, making any necessary corrections to the final software in line with the test plan. f. Maintenance and support โ€“ Maintain a technical expertise on the modules or software developed; โ€“ Maintain a functional expertise on the modules or software developed; โ€“ Perform third-level support actions: identify, reproduce and solve technical errors in the software; โ€“ Assist with the software demonstration and the training of staff and users in its use. g. Handling technology โ€“ Contribute to the evaluation of new IT platforms and software development tools; โ€“ Participate in training on specific areas of IT technical expertise Competencies1. EducationFirst-level university degree (Bachelor of Science or similar) in computer science, engineering or related fields. Job - Specific Qualification1. Knowledge of C# and the .Net development platform is required. 2. Knowledge of WebForms application development with n-Tier architecture is required. WCF would be an advantage. 3. Knowledge of JavaScript, HTML and CSS is desirable. 4. Knowledge of Transact-SQL (T-SQL) is required. 5. Knowledge of Bootstrap, Angular or any other frontend tool is desirable. Work ExperienceAt least two years' experience working as a software developer is required. LanguagesProficiency in English is mandatory. French would be an advantage. AssessmentApplicants will be contacted directly if selected for written test. Additional testing/interviewing may be used as a form of screening. Special NoticeThis is a non-core post. This position will be in full compliance with the \"Rules governing non-core staff\", which expressly exclude some international benefits (home leave, installation grant, education grant and eligibility to a continuing appointment). The selected staff will participate in the UPU Provident Scheme and will be insured together with their recognized dependents against the risks of sickness and accidents. This is a three years' contract which can be renewed if the services continue to be required in the future, the funds are available and/or the staff member's performance is satisfactory. However, this appointment does not automatically carry any expectancy of extension or renewal or of conversion to any other type of appointment. French is the official language of the UPU.
