Setting and ReportingThis position is located in the UN Integrated Security Section of the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO), Beni duty station which is classified as \"E\" category and as a non-family duty station. The Security Officer at the FS-4 level will report to the Area Security Adviser (ASA)/Field Security Coordination Officer (FSCO). ResponsibilitiesWithin limits of delegated authority, the Security Officer, FS-4, working in the Security In-formation Coordination Unit will be responsible for the following duties: โ€ข Assist in preparation, collation, and dissemination of daily security reports, โ€ข Assist in preparation of weekly assessment reports. โ€ข Contributes to the preparation and presentation of security briefings for visiting Senior UN officials, national security cell and meetings of the SMT. โ€ข Assist in management of security threat information database. โ€ข Conducts field visits as needed and assists in preparation of thematic threat assessments as directed by the ASA. โ€ข Liaises and coordinates with UNSMS organizations security officers and security counterparts in STI collection and review. โ€ข Assesses prevailing local security conditions, identifying security trends and advising UN. โ€ข Conduct security risk assessment for the area of operations when required. โ€ข Maintains continuing lines of communication with security focal points and other UN or non-UN stake holders. โ€ข Conducts advance work and implements pre-established security arrangements. โ€ข Monitors and evaluates office physical security measures and conducts security surveys of installations and facilities; implements security arrangements. โ€ข Provides advice and training to UN personnel and eligible dependents on security matters, as assigned. โ€ข Investigates security-related incidents involving UN personnel, project personnel or eligible dependents. โ€ข Identifies gaps in existing capability and make recommendation for amendment where necessary. โ€ข Contributes to the planning process of protective services for Senior UN Officials, as necessary. โ€ข Performs other duties as required.
