SEC/STB Senior Coordinator Consultant

About this position:
Established in 1959, the Inter-American Development Bank (\"IDB\" or \"Bank\") is the main source of financing for economic, social and institutional development in Latin America and the Caribbean. It provides loans, grants, guarantees, policy advice and technical assistance to the public and private sectors of its borrowing countries.
The Office of the Secretaryโs main function is to provide services for the IDB and IIC Boards of Governors and Boards of Executive Directors (including their standing committees), the MIF Donors Committee, and senior management. For regular and special meetings of these governance bodies the Office of Secretary (SEC) in addition to the preparation and conduct of the meetings, also provides advisory assistance and logistical support as needed.
The Office of the Secretary through the Services to the Board, Committees and Management Section (SEC/STB) contributes to the decision-making process of the Boards and Committees of the IDB Group by coordinating the discussion of corporate and operational issues, facilitating deliberations, and detailing meeting outcomes.
The main objective of this consultancy is to play a central role in the preparation, conduct, and follow-up of the meetings of the Board of Executive Directors and its Committees by undertaking background and analytical research, writing thematic summaries prior to meetings, and informing and documenting the deliberations and decision-making processes of these bodies.
What youโll do:
- Ensure the smooth functioning of the Committees that you will coordinate.
- Advise members of the IDB Groupโs Boards of Executive Directors and Management on Board regulations and procedures. Contribute to the review of procedures and regulations to find opportunities of improvements.
- Ensure compliance with the Board approved procedures.
- Manage Committeesโ work program, in coordination with Management and the committee Chairs.
- Facilitate coordination between IDB Group Management teams in the preparation, submission, and follow-up of items discussed at Committee meetings.
- Coordinate closely with the chairpersons of the respective Committees, all aspects related to committee activities. Support the chairpersons in carrying out their responsibilities.
- Provide mentorship to other colleagues within the Section.
- Represent the Unit/technical area before corresponding Committees. Provide support to SEC/STB Section Chief on specific projects, as requested.
What youโll need:
- Education: masterโs degree or equivalent with a specialization in Public Administration, Public Policy, Political Science, Law, Economics, Finance, or related field is preferred.
- Experience: You have at least 15 years of relevant experience. Understanding of the IDB or similar international organization is a plus.
- Languages: You are proficient in English and Spanish. Working knowledge of French and/or Portuguese is a plus.

Requirements:
- Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries.
- Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
Type of contract and duration:
- Type of contract: International Consultant Full-Time (CNS).
- Length of contract: 12 months.
