Qualifications

Purpose of the Position

To provide transportation support to Surveillance Officer in the province to drive WHO Official vehicles and ensures that vehicles are kept in good and working conditions.

2.Job Description

* Objectives of the Programme and the immediate Strategic Objectives

The daily work will involve drive staff members in the field and official missions as well as during vaccination campaigns.

The incumbent works under the supervision of the Surveillance Officer in the province and the general supervision of the Operations Officer.ย  The Surveillance Officer identifies trips/assignments.ย  Incumbent has some flexibility for planning and scheduling routes.ย  Manuals available for use are Traffic instructions/street plans; WR/Operations Officer directives/instructions; and Vehicles maintenance manual.

* Summary of Assigned Duties (Describe what the incumbent has to do to achieve main objectives)

Under the direct supervision of the Surveillance Officer, the incumbent performs the following duties :-

-ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Drives office vehicles to provide transportation of authorized personnel and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items;

-ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Drives the supervisor and other officers during AFP Surveillance activities within the province;

-ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, checks oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc., performs minor repairs and arranges for other repairs, regular servicing and ensures that the vehicle is kept clean;

-ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Logs official trips, daily mileage, gas consumptions, oil changes, greasing, etc.;

-ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Ensures that the steps required by the rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accident;

-ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Performs other duties as required, including providing transport support to other areas of work and teams or the department as necessary.

Educational Qualifications

Essential:-ย  At least Junior Secondary School educationย ย  and a valid driverโ€™s licence of the country.

Desirable:-

Experience

Essential:-ย  At least two years driving experience as a driver and a safe driving record.

ย Desirable:-ย  UN experience would be an advantage.

Use of Language Skills

Essential: Intermediate knowledge of Portuguese.

Desirable: Beginners knowledge of English. Beginners knowledge of French

ย REMUNERATION

WHO offers staff in the General Services category an attractive remuneration package, which for the above position includes an annual net base salary starting at USD 22,653.00 payable in local currency converted at the United Nations exchange rate at the time of payment and 30 days of annual leave.
