About the position
The Tropical Forages Program is currently implementing several projects that require spatial analysis support. As part of these projects, the Tropical Forages Program is looking to hire an intern. The intern will support the team in our ongoing research projects with spatial data collection, analysis, visualization and reporting.

Key duties & responsibilities
The intern will support the following activities:
- Mapping potential and optimal zones for forage production in East Africa.
- Mapping of areas where rain fed rice is currently grown in East Africa.
- Extract relevant climate data and soil properties for running the DSSAT perennial forage model.
- ย Collate spatially explicit data on below- and above-ground carbon stocks in dryland.
- ย Support the upgrade and maintenance of https://targetingtools.ciat.cgiar.org/
- Support any mapping tasks as required by team members within the tropical forages program.
Requirements
- MSc degree in Remote Sensing and Geographical Information Systems Mapping or related fields
- Proficiency in English, additional language skills considered beneficial.
Competences
- Experience in GIS mapping.
- Ability to independently and within a team setting.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
- Past experience in report mapping
Terms of employment
This is an internship position based in Nairobi, Kenya. The initial contract will be for period of three (3) months and is renewable depending on performance and availability of resources.
