The Asia and Pacific Department of the International Monetary Fund has openings for three Research Officers to work on analytical projects related to the regionโs macroeconomic growth opportunities and challenges.
Under the guidance of the departmentโs lead regional economists, the selected candidates will contribute to the departmentโs analytical work and policy advice in critical areas such as:
Climate Change
Demographic Transition
Geoeconomic Fragmentation
Financial Sector Developments
Industrial Policy
Structural Transformation
Additionally, the candidates will collaborate with various country teams within the department to integrate analysis into toolkits and support macroeconomic surveillance efforts.
Minimum qualifications
Educational development, typically acquired by the completion of an advanced university degree, or equivalent, in economics, finance, statistics or computer science, or a related field; or a university degree, or equivalent, supplemented by a minimum of six years of relevant professional experience; or a minimum of two years of relevant experience at Grade A8, or equivalent, is required.
The ideal candidate will possess:
A proven ability to conduct high-quality, policy-relevant research on macroeconomic issues.
Excellent analytical and technical skills.
Strong writing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively to diverse audiences.
The capability to exercise independent judgment and demonstrate leadership.
A keen interest in policy analysis, supported by a robust track record of peer-reviewed academic papers and policy-relevant publications.
This is a one-year contractual appointment. Contractual appointments at the IMF are renewable for up to four years of cumulative contractual service, pending incumbent's performance, budget availability and continuous business need.
