Salary InformationUS$50,377 net per annum, plus post adjustment (currently US$36,171). Salary is free of income tax in the United Kingdom

PurposeUnder the overall supervision of the Head, Projects Implementation and the direct supervision of the Project Manager of the GreenVoyage2050, within the Technical Cooperation and Implementation Division (TCID) the incumbent will provide technical guidance and advisory services to the implementation of the GreenVoyage2050 project.For more information on the project, kindly please refer to the below link below.https://imocloud.sharepoint.com/PP/PI/GV2050/SitePages/Role.aspx

Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssist GreenVoyage2050 participating countries throughout the pilot project lifecycle, including providing guidance in the identification of potential pilot owners and project partners. Facilitate meetings with national stakeholders involved in the pilot project and provide information on the process and encourage stakeholder engagement. Liaise with cargo authorities, and ship owners to identify and understand the needs and obstacles to low carbon shipping and identify solutions.Conduct research and analysis on available national policies and strategies of participating countries in order to select and implement a low carbon shipping pilot projects. Undertake analysis on legal and regulatory issues of pilot project deployment. Summarize challenges and risks posed by the project, and identify measures needed to strengthen, safeguard and address them.Review policies, programs, and initiatives formulated and implemented internationally to promote, encourage, and accelerate technology demonstration and deployment and critically evaluate the roles assumed by various stakeholders. Establish and maintain an information database, synthesising data received from participating countries and undertake regular qualitative and quantitative analysis. Draft terms of reference for feasibility studies (including technical / economic / financial analysis) of low-and zero maritime emission solutions and oversee their implementation. Maintain and apply awareness of national and global developments by including experience and learnings from similar trials and pilot demonstration projects. Assist in identifying, assessing, and recommending appropriate financial measures for development and deployment of the pilot project. Maintain accurate records of key discussions and decisions taken with respect to pilot project work. Lead on documenting knowledge and best practice for the formulation of tools and guidance documents; and prepare communication and outreach material for the project. Develop and maintain a section of the GreenVoyage2050 website dedicated to pilot project work.Develop materials and coordinate training activities and provide technical support to learning events related to the pilot projects. Draft terms of reference for contracting additional experts and consultants and oversee their engagement.Review and edit consultant reports and provide feedback on their performance. Attend relevant conferences, meetings and seminars, as required.Undertake any other duties as required for the effective management of the project or the Division

Required CompetenciesExtensive project implementation and coordination skills. Conceptual, analytical and evaluative skills and proven ability to conduct research and data reporting. Ability to develop clear goals in line with agreed strategies including risk and contingency planning.Strong organizational and time management skills, and the ability to work under minimum supervision. Ability to maintain good relationships with internal and external stakeholder, and work as part of a team in an international cross-cultural context.Capacity to focus on impact and results for the client, and to respond to feedback constructively

ExperienceMinimum of three years of progressively responsible professional experience in project implementation of technical cooperation projects related to shipping decarbonization, including executing technology projects, undertaking technical and economic analysis, and feasible studies of low-and zero maritime emission solutions is essential.Experience in assisting maritime clients, authorities, public administrations in developing maritime decarbonization strategies would be an asset. Experience in assessing barriers and drivers for energy transition and technology uptake, including regulatory development, economics and financing, and market drivers would be an asset

EducationA university degree in marine environment/technology, naval architecture, maritime engineering, natural and environmental sciences, renewable energy, physics, mathematics or related field is essential

Language SkillsProficiency in English, both written and oral, is essential. Working knowledge and ability to understand complex technical issues in other official languages of the United Nations would be an asset

OthersProficiency in MS Office applications, in particular MS Excel is essential. Experience in data analysis and reporting is essential. Experience developing technical guidance and training materials is essential. Working knowledge of Power BI would be an asset
