The Project Director will provide overall leadership and managerial direction for the anticipated MCC Lesotho Horticulture, Training, Gender, and Social Development (HTGSD) Activity. Leads and directs the development and implementation process for company projects involving departmental or cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of new or existing projects. Plans and directs project schedules and monitors budget/spending. Monitors the project from initiation through delivery. Organizes project(s) activities ensuring completion of the project on schedule and within budget constraints. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Availability of the position is contingent upon successful award to FHI 360 and approval of key personnel.
Accountabilities:
Provide overall leadership and expertise in the development and implementation of behavior change and institutional development strategies to achieve the community engagement and collective action goals of the Activity.
Responsible for creating, promoting, and maintaining safe and equitable work environments for all personnel, including a harassment- and violence-free work culture, and systems for safeguarding project participants.
Oversee a team of senior technical and program management Activity staff and ensure strong communication and coordination with and between all personnel.
Provide leadership in implementing and operationalizing participatory community engagement strategies and approaches, including human-centered design (HCD) and dialogue-based communication.
Oversee/manage Activity partners and ensure strong lines of coordination and collaboration are established and maintained.
Plan, direct, and coordinate activities to ensure that goals and objectives are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters.
Establish work plans, project teams, and SOPs to meet contract goals and ensure compliance with policies.
Establish and maintain partnerships with external stakeholders on Activity matters.
Provide leadership to the implementation team, ensuring clarity over plans and priorities, encouraging effective teamwork.

Responsible for induction of staff, ensuring personnel are familiar with quality standards, policies and Activity objectives and their individual responsibilities in upholding these standards and policies.

Education:
Bachelor's Degree or its International Equivalent in Social and Behavior Change, Community Development, Agricultural Development, Gender and Youth, or a Related Field. Masterโs Degree strongly preferred.
Project Management (PM) Certification preferred.
Experience:
10+ years of relevant experience with projects management principles and practices (including 5+ years of line management experience).
Proficient with applicable rules, regulations, and policies associated with international development and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
Demonstrated experience in community and/or agricultural development project management and implementation.
Demonstrated experience and understanding of behavior change within the community development or agriculture sectors.
Demonstrated leadership convening a diverse group of stakeholders to gain commitment and action towards a shared goal.
Experience managing donor-funded contracts preferred.
Proficient with applicable rules, regulations, and policies associated with international development and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
Demonstrated strategic planning, staff development and capacity building experience.
Relevant experience in Southern Africa, specifically Lesotho, preferred.
Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English; fluency in Sesotho strongly preferred.
Experience working in a non-governmental organization (NGO).
