The Mitigation Branch, located within the Climate Change Division, supports developing countries to improve energy efficiency and increase use of renewable energy as part of their efforts to achieve low-carbon and climate-resilient development pathways. It does so by providing guidance on sound policy, technology, and investment choices, and by facilitating knowledge generation and sharing, capacity building, peer learning and through technical assistance to developing countries. The consultancy is based in the Mitigation Branch of the Climate Change Division, at the Paris duty station. The assistance of the Individual Contractor (IC) is required to provide support to the Chief of Branch. The IC is requested to provide support in the areas of overall project portfolio management, and programmatic coordination. Broadly, the consultant will contribute to achieving the overall Branch objectives and priorities Qualifications/special skillsMasterโs Degree in Engineering, Economics, Business Management, Environmental Sciences, International Relations, or related field. A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in programmatic and project management work related to climate change mitigation (decarbonization) is required. Previous work experience in an international organization is required. Strong writing skills must be demonstrated. Proficiency with budgeting and excel formulas is required. Previous work with the UN system is desirable. Experience in UNEP processes and procedures is desirable. Experience with UMOJA system is desirable.
