    ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

    In 2018, WFP re-established its presence in the Caribbean with an office in Barbados. The WFP Caribbean Multi-Country Office (MCO) supports 22 countries and territories across the English- and Dutch-speaking Caribbean. WFP Caribbeanโ€™s capacity strengthening programme focuses on vulnerability analysis and mapping; end-to-end supply chain management; shock-responsive social protection; food systems strengthening; and climate risk financing. Beryl has left a path of destruction in affected islands. Life-threatening winds, heavy showers, and strong storm surges have damaged infrastructure and disrupted the transport, agriculture, tourism, health, and telecommunication sectors in the affected countries.


    The World Food Programme conducted a first response to the Hurricane in In Kind support and followed through with Cash transfers in partnership with the Government of Grenada. The WFP is currently technically supporting the Government of Grenada in Shock Responsive Social Protection, supporting the people of Grenada under various programmes through multiple modalities with main focus on cash transfers to meet their basic food and non-food needs.

    At this level, job holders are expected to demonstrate responsibility and initiative to respond independently to various queries with only general guidance. There is a requirement to use judgment in dealing with unforeseen operational problems on a daily basis. Job holders are expected to

    manage resources and coach and coordinate support staff.

    THE ROLE: To provide effective specialized support to the Government of Grenada and management alongside technical analysis to the implemented programme activities while coordinating with WFPโ€™s partners to effectively meet assistance needs.

    KEY RESPONSIBLILITES (not all-inclusive, nor exhaustive):

    • Provide technical and operational support and assist in the development and implementation of various activities and processes/tools within the specific area of work supporting alignment with wider programme policies and guidelines.
    • Provide specialized project management support to specific and/or defined programmes to ensure that the various activities are performed within the established targets following WFPโ€™s policies and procedures.
    • Work in close coordination with cross functional units from MCO and the Satellite Office (SO) including but not limited to finance, programme, M&E, VAM, and Supply chain, identifying areas of support, required work plans, roles and responsibilities, while ensuring programme objectives are met timely.
    • Within the specific area of responsibility, prepare a range of reports and data analysis (e.g. food assistance needs, resource utilization, programme status, performance, progress tracking, reconciliation (distribution and other), and monitoring) and highlight trends/issues ensuring deliverables adhere to corporate standards and quality control.
    • Ensure and/or perform accurate, timely recording of data within the specific technical area of work (e.g. assistance programmes, food security, assessments, cash transfers) and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
    • Liaise with internal counterparts to support effective collaboration, implementation and monitoring of ongoing project activities.
    • Oversee and support in the implementation of field level activities including distribution of food or non-food items, reporting issues or discrepancies to the supervisor for timely resolution of problems and to ensure that the quantity distributed and the quality of the operation is in line with WFP standards.
    • Ensure accurate progress tracking and follow through on required project and monitoring activities linked to the programme implementation.
    • Support in the required logistical and operational set up of programme activities.
    • Coordinate and communicate with local partners, agencies, NGOs and government institutions to perform accurate required project analyses and to ensure efficient delivery of assistance (In kind or cash).
    • Support the capacity building of WFP staff, cooperating partners and national government within the specific technical area.
    • Act as a point of contact for resolution of a range of operational queries and problems within a specific technical area of responsibility.
    • Identify lessons learned and areas of improvement enhancing programme design.
    • Oversee, review, and/or support in the work of other support staff within cross functional units, implementing and/or providing practical advice and guidance, to contribute to delivering objectives to agreed standards and deadlines.
    • Follow standard emergency preparedness practices to ensure WFP is able to quickly respond and deploy needed resources to affected areas at the onset of the crisis.
    • Any other related duties as assigned.
