Major Function

This position is a member of WWFโ€™s Policy and US Government Affairs Department (PGA), responsible for managing relationships with US government officials, promoting conservation through policy and advocacy and pursuing new opportunities to partner with US agencies on specific conservation programs. The Program Officer sits within PGAโ€™s US Government Partnerships team and works primarily on the design and development of new proposals in response to competitive grant funding opportunities issued by Federal Agencies, such as USAID, USDOS, USDA, EPA, USFWS, NOAA, NSF, and NASA, among others.

Responsibilities

Acts as a coordinator for proposals led by the USG Partnerships team. This includes analyzing funding opportunities and assisting Senior Program Officers in developing proposal outlines and calendars; planning and facilitating working meetings with technical staff and partner organizations; tracking inputs from internal and external staff, WWF country offices, partners, recruitment, and budget preparers.Manages the development of proposals of less than $1 million. Supports proposal production for large, complex proposal submissions, including copy editing and formatting and compiling documents for submission.Develops knowledge of WWF goals, programs, standards, and priorities and keeps abreast of relevant USG agency programs and priorities.Contributes to the drafting and editing of documents developed by the USG partnerships team for various audiences, including USG officials and partner organizations.Conducts background research and contributes to desk studies and other capture work.Monitors government websites relevant to the partnership team, analyzing and sharing information.Maintains USG partnership databases, tracking systems, and files.May require occasional domestic or international travel.Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

4 -6 years of professional experience or 2+ years with an advanced degree in Federal government partnerships and proposal development and an understanding of international and domestic conservation issues.
