Job Title: PROGRAM MANAGER II / SENIOR PROGRAM MANAGER I

Job Summary
The Nutrition, Diets and Health (NDH) Unit of the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) seeks a qualified candidate to serve as a Program Manager II/ Senior Program Manager I for a large, multi-partner research initiative designed to improve dietary intake of fruits and vegetables as well as other programs based in NDH. This position is a 1-year, renewable appointment based in Washington DC.
Essential Duties:
Specific duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead the management of a large, multiparter research initiative designed to improve dietary intake of fruits and vegetables and other programs based in NDH as needed
- Prepare program work plans, program calendar, and timelines
- Lead the monitoring of progress of key deliverables and activities
- Maintain initiative/program minutes and related materials
- Prepare draft program budgets to share with the unit Contract and Grants Manager
- Assist researchers with the recruitment, evaluation, and selection of collaborators, developing scopes of work, reviewing proposed budgets and drafting timelines and deliverables
- Review financial reports submitted by collaborators to assure proper use of financial resources provided by sponsors
- Review technical deliverables submitted by collaborators for completeness and quality (preliminary check)
- Manage relationships with program sponsors
- Support country coordinators in their functions as needed.
- Assist program and work package leads as needed
- Lead the planning and organization of program workshops
- Coordinate arrangements and logistics for program meetings together with other staff as needed
- Prepare and maintaining inventories, program outputs and program website.
- Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations
- Communicate research findings to external audiences as appropriate.
- Respond to requests for information about research program
- Lead requisite donor reporting, including financial and technical reporting
- Support the piloting of the use of project management software to manage proposal and contract processes within the unit
- Assist in the preparation of proposals as needed
Required Qualifications:
- Masterโs degree in business management, international relations, nutrition, agriculture, economics, or related discipline plus 5 years of relevant professional experience following the degree
- Project Management Certification
- Strong experience with program management methods and tools.
- Experience with agile and waterfall methodology
- Experience with Smartsheet, MS Project, MS Planner or other related software
- Demonstrated experience working with MS Office Suite, including MS Teams
- Demonstrated experience interacting with diverse stakeholders (donors, non-governmental organizations, academia), preferably in an international environment
- Demonstrated experience in successfully coordinating multiple project activities and managing project deliverables
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Demonstrated strong writing skills
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced working environment; excellent organizational and time management skills and attention to details
- Experience working with research teams to successfully manage project activities.
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate with diverse audiences
- Ability to work independently, with initiative and minimal supervision
- Willingness to travel internationally needed
Senior Program Manager I
- Masterโs degree in business management, international relations, nutrition, agriculture, economics, or related discipline plus 8 years of relevant professional experience following the degree
- Two years of management experience
- Significant experience using project management software (listed above)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in a second language of the U.N. system
- Experience working with NGOs
- Familiarity with international food, nutrition, agriculture and development issues
- Experience working with partners across disciplines and international locations
Physical Demand & Work environment:
- Employee will sit in an upright position for a long period of time
- Employee will lift between 0-10 pounds
- Employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing computer terminal; extensive reading
