The Freeman Chair in China Studies is a leading source of insight and analysis on China’s evolving political system and the dynamics that impact its domestic policy agenda and external behavior. Our mission is to shape the public policy debate by providing timely and objective analysis that challenges the status quo and informs policymakers, the public, and corporate executives on the most important issues impacting China’s political trajectory.
The Freeman Chair is recruiting a program coordinator or program manager to assist in the administration, daily operations, and management of the program. The program coordinator or manager will be responsible for a wide range of administrative tasks under the program, including:
The minimum annual salary for this position is $55,000.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following:
• Manages the day-to-day operations of the Freeman Chair and provides assistance to the program director and other related staff.
• Organizes public and private events, conferences, and workshops related to the program.
• Facilitate publications and podcasts under the program
• Assists in writing and submission of funding proposals and communicates with donors.
• Maintains the program budget and provides regular budget updates to the program director.
• Acts as the primary recruiter for staff, intern, and affiliate
• Coordinates the publication of new analysis and content for the program.
• Manages external communications, including sending of event invitations, managing the program’s social media, and dissemination of project publications in all formats.
• Other administrative tasks as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s degree required, with demonstrated interest in Chinese politics, economics, and foreign affairs.
• Minimum 3-4 years of administrative experience required.
• Exceptional attention to detail, professionalism, good judgment, and leadership skills are essential.
• Superior ability to multitask and to work closely with a range of individuals with diverse backgrounds, dispositions, and executive levels.
• Exceptional writing abilities.
• Ability to build and manage complex project budgets.
• A positive attitude, creative outlook, and ability to project a positive and professional image to the public, co-workers, partners, and CSIS partners.
