The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a non-profit, bipartisan public policy organization established in 1962 to provide strategic insights and practical policy solutions to decision makers concerned with global security and prosperity. Over the years, it has grown to be one of the largest organizations of its kind, with a staff of some 200 employees, including more than 120 analysts working to address the changing dynamics of international security across the globe.

The Hess Center for New Frontiers seeks detail-oriented, entrepreneurial-minded candidates to join its growing team as a full-time Program Coordinator.ย The program coordinator is an integral part of the team and responsible for overseeing a wide range of program components including correspondence with vendors and clients; financial management; liaising with research teams across CSIS; assisting in all aspects of event planning and execution; managing website upkeep and marketing campaigns, assisting with travel arrangements, preparing detailed briefs on a broad range of program research topics, and providing administrative support.

The Hess Center for New Frontiers connects leaders in government, civil society, and business with innovative CSIS research on macrotrends and drivers shaping the future global landscape. Through its dynamic New Frontiers presentation, hands-on suite of executive foresight workshops, and technical advisory council, the Center develops future-oriented leaders and equips them with the tools, analysis, and research they need to transform todayโ€™s challenges into tomorrowโ€™s opportunities.


The minimum salary for this position is $55,000.00.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following:

โ€ข Assisting the team in all aspects of event planning, promotion, and execution for public events and for internal (private) meetings and briefings with members of the U.S. government, private sector, foreign government partners, and others
โ€ข Developing and tracking program budgets and expenses
โ€ข Assisting with logistics, travel arrangements, and drafting itineraries for Center travel
โ€ข Assist with managing salesforce and other database systems
โ€ข Liaise with CSIS research and administrative staff throughout the organization
โ€ข Assist with outreach and business development for programโ€™s products, including mailing campaigns, social media strategies, and other marketing efforts
โ€ข Assist CSIS Executive Education with delivering executive programs, including preparing materials, managing budgets, coordinating faculty, and staffing
โ€ข When needed, support the programโ€™s research priorities, including written summaries, preparing backgrounders, and maintaining datasets on geopolitical and long-term futures issues
โ€ข Infrequently working outside of regular business hours to assist with critical Center events, including occasional workshops and major conferences
โ€ข Other duties as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

โ€ข Completed Bachelorโ€™s degree
โ€ข 0-2 years of relevant work experience (including internships)
โ€ข Prior academic or professional experience conducting policy research on international affairs, long-term future trends, or related fields
โ€ข Prior business development experience preferred, including creating prospect pipelines, managing communication with external clients, and interfacing with customers
โ€ข Excellent written communication skills
โ€ข Must be detail-oriented and well-organized, with demonstrated success working in collaborative team environments and proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously under strict deadlines
โ€ข Ability to work closely with a range of individuals with diverse backgrounds, dispositions, and executive levels
โ€ข A positive attitude, entrepreneurial outlook, and ability to project a professional image to the public, co-workers, and CSIS partners
