The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a non-profit, bipartisan public policy organization established in 1962 to provide strategic insights and practical policy solutions to decisionmakers concerned with global security and prosperity.ย  Over the years, it has grown to be one of the largest organizations of its kind, with a staff of some 250 employees, including more than 120 analysts working to address the changing dynamics of international security across the globe.

The CSIS Project on Critical Minerals Security is hiring a program coordinator and research associate to oversee a wide range of programmatic components, including executing events, supervising external outreach, and providing support for research projects. The program coordinator and research associate will be responsible for key tasks which enable the project to create superlative research products and enhance the projectโ€™s ability to reach key audiences in government, civil society, private sector, and the public. The successful candidate will also contribute to research projects in collaboration with senior staff.ย 

The minimum salary annual for this position is $58,000.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key tasks and responsibilities include:

Administrative and Project Support (70%)

โ€ข Lead the coordination of private and public events for the Project including conferences, online events, roundtables, and stakeholder briefings (including site selection, invitations, day-of execution/run-of-show; speaker requests, and summary reports, etc.)

โ€ข Supervise external communication, including dissemination of project publications, strategic outreach, web content, and media products in all formats.

โ€ข Maintain up-to-date contact databases, press and media lists, and stakeholder maps.

โ€ข Work with project lead to ensure successful project administration and implementation.

โ€ข Manage day-to-day expenses and financial elements.

โ€ข Serve as point of contact with internal programs and administrative offices to drive project outcomes.

โ€ข Manage director and project calendars, schedule meetings, and liaise with external stakeholders.ย 

Research (30%)

โ€ข Assist the project director in researching and drafting research products including digital and multimedia.

โ€ข Tracks key developments and issues related to critical mineral supply chains.

โ€ข Contributes to the project development through data analysis and research.ย

โ€ข Prepares briefing materials and presentations.ย 

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

โ€ข Masterโ€™s Degree preferred.

โ€ข Project management experience strongly preferred.

โ€ข 2 years professional experience that brings familiarity with critical minerals, energy, and national security issues.

โ€ข Excellent writing and communication skills to contribute to Project research and effectively present information to internal/external stakeholders.

โ€ข Demonstrated attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills.ย ย 

โ€ข Ability to execute projects under tight timelines and reasonably work across time zones.

โ€ข Ability to work closely and cooperatively with a range of individuals with diverse interests, backgrounds, and dispositions.
