BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the world's largest humanitarian agency working to eradicate hunger and malnutrition. WFPโ€™s mission is to help achieve Zero Hunger in our lifetimes, ensuring that no child goes to bed hungry and that vulnerable populations, particularly women and children, have access to nutritious food.

Our mission at the World Food Programme (WFP) is to provide immediate assistance in emergencies, and to address the root causes of hunger so the most vulnerable communities can access the foods they need to be healthy, productive, and resilient. Our new Strategy to improve diets and address malnutrition 2024-2030, sets out how we intend to achieve this as the world approaches the 2030 deadline to fulfil the Sustainable Development Goals

The purpose of this role is to provide comprehensive reporting, advocacy, and fundraising support for WFPโ€™s nutrition work, with a focus on mobilizing catalytic and core funding and enhancing reporting efforts to a range of donors, including governments, foundations, and individual donors. This includes supporting a large grant to address child wasting as a core responsibility, while also broadening the scope to cover WFPโ€™s overall nutrition strategy aimed at improving diets and addressing malnutrition globally.

The Nutrition Reports Officer will support WFP headquarters (HQ) and country offices (COs) in producing high-quality reports, advocating for policy shifts, and facilitating communication with donors. Additionally, the role will focus on identifying new funding opportunities, drafting proposals, and engaging with donors to secure resources for WFPโ€™s nutrition programs.
