The UNDP Nordic Representation Office is located at the UN City in Copenhagen, with satellite offices in Stockholm, Oslo, and Helsinki. Together we work for distributing knowledge about UNDPโ€™s work in the Nordic countries as well as coordinating the partnership with these key donors.

The internship position offers a unique opportunity for insight into UNDPโ€™s work and the chance to gain experience from an international professional environment. We are small office, and the intern will have the opportunity to participate in an array of different tasks and be positioned to influence the officeโ€™s work.

We are looking for a bilingual (Norwegian and English) intern to participate in the daily work of the office in Oslo. As an intern, you will be given fixed assignments, but as we are a small and busy office, you must be comfortable taking on a variety of assignments and be prepared to contribute where and when needed. We would like to find someone who is structured, independent, creative, and takes initiative.

Tasks will include:

Attend meetings with Norwegian government officials and other partners from public and private sectorsDevelop analyses and background documents on Norwegian and international development policyMonitor Norwegian media on issues related to the work and mandate of UNDPTranslate and distribute news, press releases and stories from English to Norwegian and vice versaAssist in preparing and coordinating launches of UNDP reports and other public events and missionsContribute to briefings related to missions and visitsVarious ad hoc tasksHelp to promote awareness of UNDPโ€™s mandate, work, and resultsUpdate and develop the Norwegian website no.undp.orgDistribute regular updates and content on UNDPโ€™s social media platforms, especially Twitter, Facebook and InstagramMonitor Norwegian media on issues related to the work and mandate of UNDP

Required competencies

Higher education in a relevant field. Former interns have held degrees in areas such as development studies, social policy, human geography, political science, and economics.Excellent communications skills in English and Norwegian, both written and oral.Strong interest in, and knowledge of, global development and the work of international organisations.Team player: works collaboratively with colleagues to achieve organizational goals.Good organizational and time management skills.Able to work independently.Good social media skillsWork experience from a developing country is an advantage.

Advantageous competencies

Knowledge of web publication tools and photo editing tools.Knowledge of the UN/UNDP and commitment to UN mission and UNDP mandate.Previous organisational experience or working experience from a developing country.
