Anticipated Duration: 2024 Spring Semester (Jan - May)
Hours: Part time, up to 20 hours per week
Pay Rate: $18.00/hour
Location: United States, remote (preference given to candidates in ET and CT zones)
Skills Gained and Learning Opportunities:
- Practical experience with a large, global non-profit organizationโs corporate communications department
- Shadowing, mentoring, and training opportunities with successful communications professionals
- Experience working with an interdisciplinary team addressing global development challenges
- Practical experience with media relations and familiarity with Muck Rack (media relations software)
Anticipated Project(s) and Assignment Details:
The intern may contribute to various team or project activities under the direction of their supervisor in the following ways:
- Contribute to written materials including feature stories, Degrees blogs, FHI 360 website pages, and social media posts
- Contribute to communications-related presentations and reports about media relations analytics, including monthly media mention roundups
- Contribute to media outlet/reporter research and media backgrounders
- Participate in team meetings and country calls (e.g., assisting with meeting preparation, meeting minutes, a post-meeting report)
- Assist with communications-related administrative tasks, as needed
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Currently enrolled in a degree program at a college or university in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, English or a related field of study, or within one year of graduation date
- Demonstrated experience writing articles and/or longer form copy, whether for a school publication, past internship or academic writing. Please submit writing samples in your application.
- Strong writing and research skills
- Demonstrated interest in nonprofit communications and international development through studies, work experience, and/or personal travel
- Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and bring forth ideas
- Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English
