Main purpose of the role

Over 200 million women across low- and middle-income countries have an unmet need for modern contraception. Lack of access to high quality sexual and reproductive care puts women at risk; 35 million women annually have abortions in unsafe condition.

As part of the broader Sexual & Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) sector, CIFF\u2019s Product Choices team leads an ambitious portfolio of market shaping and innovative financing strategies to expand global access to new and underutilized products that address the biggest drivers of unmet need. We invest across the value chain: from mobilizing R&D that better suits users\u2019 needs, to de-risking market entry and expansion of pharmaceutical and diagnostics companies and incentivizing more effective distribution models that reach the last mile.

This role will manage a large (approx. $75M) and growing portfolio of existing and new investments across that spectrum, with a primary focus on focus on upstream product access partnerships for user-controlled contraception and safe abortion products. We are seeking an entrepreneurial leader who combines expertise in pharmaceutical product development and launch execution with a deep commitment to expanding women\u2019s sexual and reproductive health rights across low and middle-income countries.

Grant Management

Against key corporate and / or sector team indicators and targets, monitor and report internally on the performance of assigned portfolio. Apply agreed due diligence and risk management protocols appropriately throughout the development and delivery of proposals and programmes, to ensure the interests and reputation of the Foundation are protected. Conduct structured feasibility analysis on investment proposals, using an appropriate range of methodologies and techniques, to ensure they are based on logical and robust assumptions, which can withstand scrutiny from the Executive Team (ET) and CIFF Board. Working either with sector colleagues or independently, prepare summary reports, board reports and portfolio investment reports, ensuring these are produced to a high-standard and in a timely fashion, often within tight timeframes. Co-ordinate the development of grant agreements, to forecast and process grant payments and to enable effective grant management and reporting within the organisation. Working closely with and taking the advice and guidance of, the sector team\u2019s Evidence, Measurement and Evaluation (EME) Business Partner, identify and embed appropriate monitoring and evaluation processes to all proposals and programmes. Conduct regular reviews of the progress and performance of programmes under delivery to identify problems and delays, and work with partners to develop effective solutions (escalating to more senior colleagues for support and intervention, where required). Work as part of a team to shape and implement plans for scaling up, replicating or leveraging additional support for successful programmes and initiatives, in accordance with CIFF priorities. Identify opportunities and options for improving processes, procedures and programme management approaches within (and beyond) the team, to support increased organisational efficiency and effectiveness. In collaboration with the broader Choices team, lead on the development of strategies related to end-to-end lifecycle management of new and existing reproductive health technologies, with aim to drive greater sectoral resilience and market growth Work with key internal and external stakeholders to evolve analytical tools, capabilities, and partner architecture for strengthened coordination and decision-making across CIFF\u2019s growing product access portfolio Against key corporate and / or sector team indicators and targets, monitor and report internally on the performance of assigned portfolio. Personally manage a portfolio of live programmes with a value c. [$75-100M] in accordance with the sector priorities and plan. Support design and execution of commercialization activities for reproductive health products to achieve CIFF\u2019s charitable objectives, including but not limited to: day-to-day management of manufacturing partnerships and commercial agreements with pharmaceutical and medical device companies; support to grantees for development and execution of go-to-market capabilities; and strategic oversight of R&D activities for new or repurposed products Act as the linkage between upstream and downstream product investments within CIFF. Work with partners to strengthen data monitoring across the supply chain for market management and infuse user insights and country delivery considerations into product development activities Ensure that all new programme proposals adopt a commercial, sustainable and innovative approach to permanently solving the most challenging problems.

Keep abreast of developments within the SRHR and international development sectors, establishing appropriate information gathering networks and channels to deepen professional knowledge and skills. As required, contribute to the development of thought leadership, PR, marketing and advocacy materials, to support CIFF\u2019s ambitions to scale-up, mainstream and leverage additional support for its initiatives.

Stakeholder and partner management

Conduct rigorous research and evaluation of potential partners, using agreed corporate protocols and techniques, to assess their suitability and credentials for collaborating on CIFF initiatives. Apply CIFF\u2019s agreed account management disciplines and approaches in all dealings with programme partners and stakeholders, to ensure productive and professional relationships are maintained in a coordinated and strategic manner. Working alongside senior colleagues, help to develop strategic partnerships to support adoption, replication, co-funding or scaling-up of CIFF programmes. With a variety of external audiences, develop and maintain strong partnerships and act as a knowledgeable resource about CIFF\u2019s programmes and priority areas.

Membership and leadership of the team

Be a role model to less experienced team members, demonstrating CIFF\u2019s leadership behaviours and providing mentorship to aid their growth. We operate a matrix structure so reporting lines can vary between specific aspects of the role. This role may have line management responsibility for an analyst, subject to portfolio growth.

Skills & Experience

Progressively responsible leadership roles in demanding and diverse organisations. Proven experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, diagnostics or medical device industry supporting introduction of new products from R&D through launch and scale Deep knowledge of the structure and challenges of public and private health product markets in low- and middle-income countries Comfort in negotiating deals with commercial companies. Quantitative skills, including financial modelling, COGS and business plan analysis. Experience working in emerging markets (particularly sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia) Demonstrable experience of supporting workplace diversity and inclusion. Working knowledge of behavioral economics and political economy of demography. Benefits

The starting salary for this role is GBP 63,790

CIFF operates a hybrid working policy across all locations, which means employees work some of the time in the office and some of the time from home. We are happy to provide more information on this as part of the recruitment process.
