What You'll Do Project Description. The purpose of the Feed the Future Ethiopia Transforming Agriculture activity is to increase access to healthy diets, particularly for women and children, by improving competitiveness, inclusiveness, and resilience of the Ethiopian food and agriculture system. The project scope targets private sector partnerships engaged in a market systems approach to strengthening the Ethiopian food system. The project collaborates with the Ministry of Agriculture and many other agencies and USAID programs to leverage resources and achieve impact at scale. Position Description. The Logistics Officer is responsible for the overall management of project logistical needs, including, but not limited to the transport of procured goods, oversight of asset management, and inventory control for our national and regional offices. He/She will provide overall leadership and direct support to the entire logistics component for the Feed the Future Ethiopia Transforming Agriculture activity by ensuring compliance with US government and RTI logistic and property management rules, regulations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Inventory management and logistic work will also include items purchased for partners through the project’s grants program. This position will be based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with frequent travel to project areas in the region and will report to the Senior Procurement Manager. What You Will Do / Responsibilities. Your primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to: Logistics • Contribute to supply chain management efforts of the regular and in-kind grant procurement teams including logistical support from the ordering point through the follow-up, expediting, and delivery of the required goods and/or services. • In consultation with the procurement teams, oversee logistical management and distribution-related logistics of all project property to ensure safe last-mile delivery. • Assist procurement, grants, and/or technical teams with the receipt and validation of goods and services, in accordance with project requirements and procurement best practices. • In collaboration with the Sr. Procurement Manager, coordinate the clearing freight forwarding efforts with the RTI Logistics Office, local authorities/clearing agents and/or the Home Office Support Team as required. Inventory management • Lead overall property management and inventory control, reports, custody control documents, and reconciliations for both expendables and non-expendables according to US government rules and regulations. • Maintain updated asset and inventory records. Conduct cycle inventory reconciliation and planned inventory audits for the project, including property used/managed by grantees. • Ensure timely reporting on stock status to program implementation staff and help staff plan stock replenishment in various locations. • Provide guidance to ETA staff in national and regional offices on proper property management protocol. • Support the disposition/transfer of property at the end of the project, including collecting required transfer documentation as required. Warehouse management • Develop Warehouse Management Protocol based on project operations and areas of improvement, in line with inventory management best practices, and project requirements. • Manage the intake, storage, and release of items held in the project’s warehouse, in accordance with project and warehouse policies and procedures. • Ensure clear tracking and management of warehouse items; conduct audits on a periodic basis, and as requested by project and RTI leadership. • Manage the contract and relationship with the warehouse storage service, including monitoring quality of the warehouse space Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned What You'll Need What You Will Need/ Qualifications. • Masters degree and 3 years of experience or Bachelors Degree and 5 years of experience required. Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics or related field preferred • 2 years of experience in logistics and warehouse management, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. • Professional logistics-related certifications such as Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) preferred. • Prior experience with RTI, Feed the Future Ethiopia Transforming Agriculture, and/or large-scale complex logistics management preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities. • An understanding of and commitment to RTI’s mission and values. • Proven knowledge of US government and local government logistics and policies and regulations. • Prior experience in logistics and warehouse management of food and agriculture-related goods and services, including international and cross-border logistics preferred. • Excellent knowledge and strong computer skills of Microsoft Office applications. • Strong organizational, reporting and management skills. • High level of integrity and ethics. • Solution-oriented and ability to work under pressure with multiple priorities. • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team. • Strong verbal and written English and Amharic communication skills required, additional local language a plus. • Ability to work hands-on, independently, and within the team. • Ability to travel frequently to the regional offices
