Join our team as a legal intern and contribute to UNHCR’s work on the protection of refugees. This role offers a rich learning experience and the chance to build valuable skills in public international law and EU law.
Eligibility Criteria:
Be a recent graduate or current student in a graduate/undergraduate school programme, preferably in (international) law / political sciences / international relations, from a university or higher education facility accredited by UNESCO.
Have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a field relevant or of interest to the work of UNHCR.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct research on public international law and EU law related to refugee issues.
Monitor and report on case-law, with a focus on regional and international courts.
Prepare a monthly update on significant judicial developments in refugee law.
Organize internal meetings related to UNHCR’s engagement with international and domestic courts and prepare minutes of the meetings.
Assist in drafting documents related to UNHCR court interventions and legal commentaries prepared by the Legal Team.
Manage an online database of UNHCR court interventions and commentaries and maintain an internal SharePoint web-page.
Monitor discussions on the ECRE/ELENA Forum and highlight pertinent issues.
Keep track of seminars, conferences, and events related to strategic litigation and EU refugee law.
Assist with the organization of meetings, events, workshops, and trainings.
Attend meetings and webinars and provide summaries of key points.
Provide administrative and clerical support as needed.
