Background: In response to growing inequality, and the threat inequality poses to social and political stability, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is currently implementing a project entitled Josour Initiative โTo a Better Future for Youth in the Arab Region\". The projectโs focus is two folds: better equipping Arab states identify and respond to inequalities and empowering young people in the Arab region through enhanced access to opportunities, especially in Egypt. As such, ESCWA holds annually the Arab Forum for Equality to highlight the need to reduce inequalities across the region at the highest level of policymakers. In 2025, the Arab Forum for Equality, in its 4th edition, will focus on the theme of inequality and social protection, bringing together political leaders, ministers, the private sector, experts, and civil society organizations from the Arab region and globally. The 2025 Forum aims to continue the discussions generated during the First Arab Forum for Equality, held in Amman, Jordan, under the theme โBuilding the futureโฆa job for everyoneโ, the Second Arab Forum for Equality, held in Beirut, Lebanon, under the theme โOne voiceโฆequality in food securityโ, and the Third Forum for Equality, held in Cairo, Egypt, under the theme โAddressing inequalities in times of multiple crisesโ. In parallel, through its focus on empowering young people in the Arab region through enhanced access to opportunities, ESCWA launched the โJosourโ initiative in the first Forum in 2022, that brings together private sector leaders and business representatives to open avenues for youth and provides them with access to skills development venues and work placements facilitation. As part of the Josour initiative, an artificial intelligence e-platform was developed to link all beneficiaries and make a one-stop shop for all of them. II. Duties and Responsibilities: The junior consultant is requested to: For the Forum: โข Conduct background research and provide input to the substantive conceptualization of sessions. โข Draft questions and discussions elements to support the sessions moderators. โข Prepare a summary of key messages emanating from the forumโs sessions. โข Prepare the final list of key messages emanating from the forum. โข Draft a final report detailing the proceedings of the forum. โข Perform other tasks as requested. For the Josour Initiative: โข Prepare summary reports of activities implemented for Josour. โข Monitor exchanges and interact with the Josour community (13267 members & 48 partners as of 20 March 2025). โข Perform other tasks as requested. Qualifications/special skillsA Masters degree or equivalent in one of the following fields is required: Social Sciences, International Relations, Public Administration, Project Management, Social Policy, Social Development, or another relevant field. Three years of relevant professional work experience is required Experience working in similar development projects is desirable. Background/familiarity with e-platforms management is desirable.
