About this position:
The ITE Department seeks a skilled Technical Product Owner to support transformation initiatives within the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). The New IT Operating Model initiative is pivotal within the ITE Department's strategic priorities, focusing on evaluating processes, governance, and product management practices. This role offers the opportunity to shape the direction of our digital products and services, driving value for both our internal teams and external stakeholders.
We are looking for a Technical Product Owner who will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of key IT projects and initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background combined with excellent communication skills and a deep understanding of agile methodologies. They will work closely with cross-functional teams to define product requirements, prioritize features, and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality solutions.
What youโll do:
- Knowledge in IT management framework.
- Strong understanding of ITIL, COBIT, ISO 27001, and other relevant frameworks and standards.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define product vision, strategy, and roadmap.
- Lead the grooming and prioritization of the product backlog, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Work closely with development teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications and user stories.
- Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and development teams, facilitating communication and managing expectations
- Drive the agile development process, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and sprint reviews.
- Monitor project progress and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure timely delivery and quality outcomes.
- Continuously gather feedback from users and stakeholders to iterate on product features and enhancements.
- Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies, providing insights and recommendations for future product development.
- Proven experience leading successful transformation projects in a complex corporate environment.
- Strong strategic planning and analytical skills, with the ability to identify opportunities and develop actionable plans.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated leadership ability, with experience leading cross-functional teams and driving change.
- Comprehensive process mapping exercises to visualize and document existing workflows.
- Utilize Lean principles and best practices to identify and analyze wastes in current processes.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Utilize BPM mapping techniques to create detailed process documentation and flowcharts.
What you'll need:
- Education: Masterโs degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years as technical Product Owner.
- Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.
Key skills:
- Proven experience 5 years as a Technical Product Owner or similar role in a software or technology company
- Strong technical background, with a solid understanding of software development methodologies and tools
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Experience working in an agile environment, with a thorough understanding of agile principles and practices
- Ability to prioritize competing demands and make data-driven decisions.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Certification in Agile (e.g., Certified Scrum Product Owner, PMI Agile Certified Practitioner).
- Experience with project management tools such as JIRA, Trello, or Asana.
- Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and tools.
Requirements:
- Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries.
- Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
