Job Summary:
The IT Officer provides support to end-users, internal users, or partners. He/she serves as the first line of support for the end user on issues related to desktop servers, computers, laptops, printers, network connectivity and remote access. He/she simulates or recreates a process to resolve operating difficulties and may interact with network services, software systems engineering, and/or applications development to restore service and/or identify and correct core problems.
Accountabilities:
- Handles basic support of hardware, applications and operating systems, technical consultation and networking.
- Serves as a productive project team member by completing assigned tasks.
- Performs software installations on company computers and configures applications as specified.
- Empowering users by sending system tips and guidance instruction.
- Demonstrates ownership of customer issues and independently seeks solutions.
- Works on assignments that are routine in nature.
- Manage and collaborate with third party suppliers where appropriate and ensure that vendor performance and provision of services and quality is in line with FHI 360 expectations that enable FHI 360 to meet or exceed service levels.
- Responsible for the optimal operation of all office devices and end user computing environments hardware, peripherals, which directly support and help manage the end user computing environment.
- Support organizational wide priorities by ensuring optimal support and timely resolution of incidents.
- Regular evaluation of current computer hardware/software in order to provide a timely replacement schedule or upgrade.
- Collaborates with US Intโl ISS Operations and US Technology Teams for new technology project delivery and implementation.
- Serves different project staff as per assigned by the senior IT officer.
- Executes the responsibility of the senior IT officer in his absence.
Applied Knowledge & Skills:
- Must speak and write fluent English.
- Basic Understanding of Information Technology industry practices.
- Solid knowledge and experience with incident management and operations services tools and systems.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite 2016, 2016, Windows 10/11, Azure Active Directory.
- Basic knowledge of Cisco routers/switches and other networking devices
- Basic Knowledge of SharePoint Administration.
- Skills in oral and written communication. Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with all levels of staff, individuals from diverse cultures, and the public.
- Ability to multi-task and self-motivate through assignments and routines.
- A willingness to increase knowledge and update skills as required.

- Works on problems of moderate scope that require analysis and review of identifiable factors.
- Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine methods and techniques to obtain results.
- Decisions may affect the management and operations of an area within a department.
- Plays a coaching and mentoring role for others; may assist in team management as necessary, although has no formal people management responsibility.
Supervision Given/Received:
- Has no supervisory responsibility.
- Provides suggestions on business and operational decisions that affect the department.
- Receives instructions on new assignments, but plans activities to complete task.
- Typically reports to a Senior IT Officer.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree or Computer Science, Information Technology or related field, or equivalent.
Experience:
- 2-4 years' experience in providing technical support to staff in a Windows environment.
- Computer Science, Information Technology or related field, or equivalent.
- Vendor and specialized industry training will be added advantage.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certification in Computer Programming is an advantage.
- Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer is an advantage.
- Networking certifications e.g., CISCO certifications; and
- Virtual Systems Certifications โ Vmware is an advantage.
- Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO).
Typical Physical Demands:
- Typical office environment.
- Ability to spend long hours looking at computer screen and doing repetitive work on a keyboard.
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
