BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DIVISION
The Management Services Division (MSD) at HQ is a division comprised of over 200 colleagues across Rome, UAE & India. The HQ division supports WFP's 22,000 humanitarians and is represented by 4,200 functional focal points present throughout all of WFP's offices. Within WFP, Management Services colleagues play an integral role in keeping WFP operations and programmes running smoothly and cost-efficiently, even in the toughest conditions, so the focus can remain on WFP's core mandate of serving our beneficiaries.
Our global service portfolio for WFP is focused on enabling operations and providing a duty of care to WFP's workforce. This includes providing infrastructure and emergency response capacity through sophisticated engineering services, light fleet management, delivering and maintaining the most fit-for-purpose facilities, measuring and reducing our environmental impact, managing our pool of assets, providing travel services for WFP employees, and humanitarian accommodation - with administration field support available in all these areas.
MSD is the strategic Business Partner that Enables WFPโs workforce and operations by driving performance with duty of care, sustainability, and innovation.
Considering this, the Field Support and Staffing branch (MSDS) was created to provide an integrated global business service, optimising performance management to achieve process excellence and aligning workforce planning to standardise the Management Service structure, responsibilities, and reporting lines.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Contribute to the teamโs Human Resources ongoing projects, including proposing viable approaches and solutions Support the identification of Management Services Global talent for deployments within the function Support the team with the skill mapping exercise and keep the data up to date, being sure to reach the entire Management Services community Support the team for the reassignment preparation Manage vacancy announcements in the Applicant Tracking System (WorkDay): job postings, open position information, etc Support system creation of technical assessments Screen candidates against an established set of criteria Help boost the recruiting pipeline by sourcing passive candidates and leveraging social media to publicise the organization and open roles Support with data analysis Perform other duties as required.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate programme (for example, Bachelorโs degree) from a recognized university and have completed at least two years of the programme; OR
- Be currently enrolled in a graduate programme (for example, Master degree); OR
- Be a recent graduate from an undergraduate or graduate programme (within six months prior to the application to the internship programme);
- Classes attendance in the last 12 months of enrolment in a recognized university.
- Excellent written and spoken English is required (proficiency/level C). Working knowledge of another official UN language (French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Russian plus Portuguese) is an asset.
- Work experience or exposure to Talent Acquisition, Human Resources, and project management is highly desirable
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional team members
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with diplomacy
- Ability to think creatively and strategically
- Ability to be flexible, multi-task, prioritise, and manage multiple activities simultaneously in a fast-paced, changing environment

TRAINING COMPONENTS
Throughout their assignment WFP interns have access to an industry leading learning platform, weLearn. Depending on opportunities and availability of funds, he/she may participate in WFP workshops or seminars, as appropriate.
LEARNING ELEMENTS
At the end of the assignment, the Intern should: have developed a well-rounded skill set in HR, talent management, recruitment, and data analysis, along with a solid understanding of WFPโs global operations and the integral role Management Services Division plays in enabling the organization to meet its humanitarian objectives.
INTERNSHIP TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP up to the maximum amount of US$1,000 per month depending on the duty station of assignment.
- WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, VISA requests and related costs.
- WFP will reimburse travel ticket for candidates who are nationals of developing countries and are pursuing their studies in their home country.
- WFP will recognize candidatesโ educational credentials from recognised institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education.
- Sons, daughters, brothers, or sisters of current WFP employees are not eligible to apply.
