The World Food Programme (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization saving lives and changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. We are currently seeking to fill an intern position in the Emergency Operations Division (EME) within the Global Surge Coordination Unit, based in Rome, Italy.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DIVISION
To ensure WFP is equipped with the capacities to respond on a no-regrets basis to emergencies in efficient and effective manner the Emergency Operations Division (EME) established the Global Surge and Coordination Unit (GSCU).
The GSCU is responsible for coordinating a structured system that helps WFP identify, train and deploy the talent that is needed for current and future emergency responses. GSCU will coordinate WFPโs internal response to ensure that staffing requirements are filled in a timely, coordinated and accountable manner, with the GSCU functioning as a one-stop shop for emergency support for Country Offices and Regional Bureaus.
Under the supervision of the Global Surge Officer, the intern will support the co-ordination of information related to the identification, training and deployment of staff to emergency operations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate programme from a recognized university OR recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate programme (within six months prior to the application to the internship programme) from a recognized university; University course attendance in the past 12 months.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions and recommend a course of action. Good communication skills required to give and receive information and work with a variety of individuals. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with clients and provide client-oriented service. Ability to identify clientโs need and match them to appropriate solutions. Knowledge of, or the ability to quickly assimilate, UN/WFP specific processed and systems. Knowledge of analytical tools and data visualization software, e.g., Tableau, PowerBI Experience in the humanitarian environment is desirable.
WORKING LANGUAGES
Excellent written and spoken English is required (proficiency/level C).

Have acquired a good knowledge of the GSCU operations and data, and the work of WFP in Emergencies; Be autonomous analyzing data and creating dashboards; Have gained analytical skills; Have supported the development and production of reports and dashboards on GSCU operations.
