Background

UNDP is committed to achieving workforce diversity in terms of gender, nationality and culture. Individuals from minority groups, indigenous groups and persons with disabilities are equally encouraged to apply. All applications will be treated with the strictest confidence.

UNDP has a Zero Tolerance policy on harassment, sexual harassment, discrimination and abuse of authority and sexual exploitation. All selected candidates will, therefore, undergo rigorous reference and background checks.

Background

As the lead UN development agency, UNDP supports countries in their efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. UNDP is present in 170 countries around the world and works to eradicate poverty and reduce inequalities. Since January 2023, the UNDP Nepal Country Office implements its Country Programme Document (CPD) 2023-2027. The CPD has three core focus areas: Sustainable and Inclusive Economic Transformation; Governance, Federalism, Participation, and Inclusion; and Environmental Sustainability, Climate and Disaster Resilience. Gender equality and social inclusion are cross-cutting priorities across the focus areas.

To achieve the agreed outcomes and outputs, UNDP Nepal Country Office implements a range of projects in collaboration with the Government of Nepal (federal, provincial, and local levels), international development partners and other UN agencies, civil society, media, the private sector, and other actors.

To support development of new and implementation of existing projects under the respective portfolios, UNDP Nepal Country Office seeks to engage an international intern on a full-time basis. The internship position offers a unique opportunity for insight into UNDPโ€™s work in Nepal and a chance to gain experience from an international professional environment. Prior experiences and interest of selected intern will be considered when allocating portfolio and finalizing responsibilities.

Under the overall supervision and guidance of the Thematic Advisor and working closely with the relevant Portfolio Manager, the intern will join one of the UNDP Nepal CO portfolios and will be located where UNDP Nepal has offices to support and contribute to the following areas of work.
