The U.S. Climate Alliance is a bipartisan coalition of governors securing Americaโs net-zero future by advancing state-led, high-impact climate action. The Alliance Secretariat helps its members accelerate climate action by providing a broad range of technical, analytical, policy, and capacity assistance and resources. The coalition has also built strong relationships with the federal administration to help create and implement an ambitious, durable national climate framework. The U.S. Climate Alliance Secretariat is seeking an intern ready to contribute to its research, policy development, peer-to-peer learning, and coordination work. The intern will respond to specific project-level needs such as assisting in the development and launch of our state climate policy database, developing new metrics and methods of tracking policy progress and implementation, drafting policy briefing papers, and providing general coordination support. This role is an opportunity to gain a comprehensive and in-depth and understanding of the types of policies and actions U.S. states are advancing to drive down GHG emissions across the economy. The intern will be expected to work as part of a broader team that includes Alliance staff, consultants, external partners, and member states.
This is a paid opportunity from September 16, 2024, through December 6, 2024, and offers an hourly compensation rate of $17.50 per hour for individuals currently enrolled in or recently graduated from (within 8 months of graduation) an associate degree or bachelorโs degree program; and $20 per hour for individuals currently enrolled in a graduate program.
Essential Functions
Selection Criteria Applicants can be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program. We also welcome applications from individuals who have graduated within the last 8 months.Strong research skills, ability to write and communicate clearly and concisely. Demonstrated interest and experience in state climate policy and coalition building. Strong skills with Microsoft Excel, coding, or other database/data manipulation software preferred.Experience, familiarity, or interest in state climate policy.Interest in innovative ways to communicate technically complex materials. Be responsible, flexible, collaborative, hardโworking and committed to the mission of the U.S. Climate Alliance. Fluent in English. Ability to meet regular attendance/tardiness policy. Must be available to work a maximum of 29 hours per week within the working day of 9am-5pm EST.Ability to work under pressure and handle stress. Our Values
