Intern (Labour Mobility and Human Development - LHD)

Working under the direct supervision of the Regional Project Officer for Labour Mobility and Human Development and the overall direction of the Senior Specialist for Labour Migration and Human Development in IOMโ€™s Regional Office for the Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok, the selected two interns will support the LHD unit in the implementation of ongoing work to support country offices, the Regional Director, and IOM Headquarters.

  1. Assist the LHD regional unit in review of new project proposals and reports related to the LHD portfolio for the countries in Asia and the Pacific;

  2. Assist the LHD regional unit in strengthening IOMโ€™s cooperation with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) through the establishment and support to the Labour Migration Task Force

  3. Provide support and coordination assistance for regional processes such as Colombo Process, ASEAN, Abu Dhabi Dialogue and other regional and global processes related to the LHD portfolio.

  4. Assist in the preparation and distribution of monthly work updates including liaison with field missions in the region;

  5. Support the development and coordination of knowledge products and information materials tailored to the needs of regional process and partnerships objectives and work plans.

  6. Support the development and maintenance of the unitโ€™s information resources in a user-friendly and coherent manner;

  7. Collect, track and analyse labour migration and project data generated by IOM activities;

  8. Prepare high-quality presentations, talking points and other outreach materials.

  9. Assist in the organisation of workshops, conferences, and webinars for the LHD regional unit and projects in the region;

  10. Assist in the preparation for and participate in internal and external meetings, and draft notes for file; and

  11. Perform other such duties as may be assigned.

Eligibility and Selection: The Internship Programme will offer two opportunities through this interview process to work in the Labour Mobility and Human Development Division for IOMโ€™s Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific. It aims at attracting talented students and graduates who have a specific interest in, or whose studies have covered, areas relevant to IOM programmes and activities. Interns must be between 20 and 36 years old and should have less than two years of relevant working experience. The Internship Programme is open to candidates of any nationality.
