Position Overview

The Intern, Global Health Communications serves in a communications support role to enable strong external and internal information sharing and creative storytelling to advance UNF and our partnersโ€™ global health work and policy objectives.

This is a paid opportunity and offers a rate of $20/hour for individuals currently enrolled in a graduate program. This position is remote.

Essential Functions

โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹Support and facilitate strong global health communications for the UN Foundation including, inter alia:

โ€‹Work under the direction of the Senior Communications and Advocacy Officer, Global Health, to manage UNFโ€™s internal and external global health communications.

โ€‹Work with other Global Health, Public Affairs, and other health-related campaigns/alliances team members.

โ€‹Support planning and execution of global health initiative communications plans, including:

โ€‹Create health-related social media content across multiple social media platforms

โ€‹Develop content for UNF blogs and other storytelling opportunities

โ€‹Contribute to our global health newsletter

โ€‹Track and report on the performance of UNF global health content

โ€‹Track media coverage relevant to UNFโ€™s global health goals

โ€‹Assist with planning global health-related events and webinars

โ€‹Produce graphics, videos, or other multimedia content as needed

โ€‹Monitor and share relevant updates and communications surrounding WHOโ€™s coordination and leadership on global health issues.

โ€‹Support and facilitate UNFโ€™s communications work around major global health moments and observance days, including the World Health Assembly.

โ€‹Provide research and writing support to Global Health team, including briefing papers, executive summaries, analyses, and presentations on above topics, or others as assigned.

โ€‹Perform other duties as assigned.โ€‹

Selection Criteria

โ€‹โ€‹Candidate must be enrolled in a graduate or PhD degree-granting program during the internship or must be a recent graduate (within 8 months of graduation) of a college or university.

โ€‹Familiarity with global health issues (especially pandemic preparedness, immunization, malaria, antimicrobial resistance, and universal health coverage) and the United Nations system and agencies (especially WHO).

โ€‹Communications and public relations skills and experience such as: email newsletter management, media and social media tracking and analytics, web design and content management, and graphic design (Adobe CS, Canva, etc.).

โ€‹Ability to write engaging content for both technical and non-technical audiences.

โ€‹Ability to work under pressure and handle stress.

โ€‹Ability to meet regular attendance/tardiness policy.

โ€‹Must have a personal laptop computer and access to the Internet.

โ€‹Must be available to work 20-29 hours per week during East Coast working hours.

โ€‹Must be authorized to work in the United States.
