Position Overview

The Intern, Global Health Communications serves in a communications support role to enable strong external and internal information sharing and creative storytelling to advance UNF and our partnersโ global health work and policy objectives.
This is a paid opportunity and offers a rate of $20/hour for individuals currently enrolled in a graduate program. This position is remote.

Essential Functions
โโโSupport and facilitate strong global health communications for the UN Foundation including, inter alia:
โWork under the direction of the Senior Communications and Advocacy Officer, Global Health, to manage UNFโs internal and external global health communications.
โWork with other Global Health, Public Affairs, and other health-related campaigns/alliances team members.
โSupport planning and execution of global health initiative communications plans, including:
โCreate health-related social media content across multiple social media platforms
โDevelop content for UNF blogs and other storytelling opportunities
โContribute to our global health newsletter
โTrack and report on the performance of UNF global health content
โTrack media coverage relevant to UNFโs global health goals
โAssist with planning global health-related events and webinars
โProduce graphics, videos, or other multimedia content as needed
โMonitor and share relevant updates and communications surrounding WHOโs coordination and leadership on global health issues.
โSupport and facilitate UNFโs communications work around major global health moments and observance days, including the World Health Assembly.
โProvide research and writing support to Global Health team, including briefing papers, executive summaries, analyses, and presentations on above topics, or others as assigned.
โPerform other duties as assigned.โ
Selection Criteria
โโCandidate must be enrolled in a graduate or PhD degree-granting program during the internship or must be a recent graduate (within 8 months of graduation) of a college or university.
โFamiliarity with global health issues (especially pandemic preparedness, immunization, malaria, antimicrobial resistance, and universal health coverage) and the United Nations system and agencies (especially WHO).
โCommunications and public relations skills and experience such as: email newsletter management, media and social media tracking and analytics, web design and content management, and graphic design (Adobe CS, Canva, etc.).
โAbility to write engaging content for both technical and non-technical audiences.
โAbility to work under pressure and handle stress.
โAbility to meet regular attendance/tardiness policy.
โMust have a personal laptop computer and access to the Internet.
โMust be available to work 20-29 hours per week during East Coast working hours.
โMust be authorized to work in the United States.
